Ottawa isn't giving up assets for MAF. If anything they'd be looking to get a 2nd for taking him.

Ottawa isn’t being payed to get Fleury here. They need to reach the cap floor and Fleury is still a serviceable goalie. The cap hit does not bother them so there’s no sense to pay them here. They don’t have a proper starter going into this season, so getting Fleury using a 2nd of which they have 4 doesn’t seem so out of the realm of possibility.

I see Cousins and Stephenson getting more. 30 point+ players and both have fit well in vegas. I see Cousins 2-2.5 for 2-3 years and Stephenson 2.5-3 for 3-4 years as man have those 2 improved.

Why does everyone think we need help reaching the floor, or that that gives you any sort of leverage? We don’t and it doesn’t. We also don’t need a goalie unless it’s Demko or Georgiev as compensation for a dump

More like Fleury and a third for a 5th. Maybe more for a team to take a 7 million dollar cap dump off their hands. Be a first for the cheaper than cheap Melnyk to take that contract off Vegas’ hands

Ottawa reaches the cap floor easily without Fleury and have 2 starting goalies with identical save pct as Fleury this year. Their owner is trading a 2nd rd pick for their 3rd best goalie making 7 mil a year.

It cost Toronto the 13th OA pick for one year of Marleau dump. Fleury makes the same for 2 years. What does that add up to???

1). Sens don't "need to hit the floor". They need to come up with like 20mil, and they sill have like half of their roster to sign. They will easily hit the floor.

2). Even if they did need to to take on significant cap to hit the floor, there's still no reason to give up picks to do it. There are way more teams needing to clear cap than there are teams who can accommodate those kinds of deals.

3). Whether or not Fleury is still "serviceable" or not does not matter. The fact is, he's nowhere close to being worth his deal, so there's no way he's got positive value in a trade. The "asset" Vegas gets in that deal is 7mil of Cap space, and by extension, Robin Lehner. Which would be well worth a 2nd for Vegas.

They really don't need much/any help reaching the cap floor lol. They have like 7 RFAs to sign and still need to fill out the roster and replace UFAs.

And?? Vegas can do that with Fleury. Toronto paid for the cap space. What Carolina did is irrelevant....
