Trading up with Buffalo

Created by: KPasty
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 14, 2020
Published: Sep. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jets trade up to get their 2nd C of the future in Lundell making sure Minnesota doesn’t get him.

Vegas gets cap relief in trading Statsny and a better return than a lot of teams would give. Stop gap for Lundell who should be ready next year after

Perreault would waive for Anaheim I’m sure with a Niku kicker

Roslovic for a decent return

And Petro won’t sign in Winnipeg... but a guy can dream

Buffalo would probably want Lundell themselves.

Already have Cozens and Middelstadt as high end centre prospects, they’d probably go scoring winger at 8 to compliment Eichel which they could probably get at 10

Why? Genuinely curious. They don’t need another high end Centre prospect they need a scoring winger for Jack which they could probably get at 10. They gain a 2nd rounder next year. And Minnesota probably takes Askarov at 9 if they can’t get Lundell. I think it makes a lot of sense. But that’s just my opinion.

You can never have too many centers. They are so valuable to a team.

Many seem to have basically written Middlestadt off and Cozens is seen as a winger by some, idk maybe you're right though, think you'd need to offer them something better then a 21 2nd for the Sabres to consider it though, what that might be I have no idea.

I get that, then what’s the offer realistically for the Jets to move up 2 spots here then? In your opinion

For the buffalo trade, I agree with you that buffalo is better off moving down and getting a winger. They have a center and need a winger, a goalie like askarov, or a guy like lundell, all of whom should be available at 10. However, I don’t think the 2021 2nd will be enough. I think you will have to make that a 2020 2nd and add niku. Can have a 3rd coming back that way.

As for perreault, retain some and send him off. Teams will probably godly take him for 2-3M against the cap.

Vegas might do it if you drop the 4th and retention.

Finally, if that’s the return for Roslovic, I’m not moving him. We should get a little less than kapanen (since I think he’s worth about the same but Pittsburgh grossly overpaid). I expect at least a 1st for Roslovic considering that he’s going to be cheap and is a future top 6 forward

That’s my speal. I like the move, but I don’t think chevy moves the 2020 2nd unless he gets a later 2nd or a 3rd. 2c isn’t the only long term need we need to address. We need a big rd and guys like villeneuve, Moore, cotton, nickl, and thompson should be available there so it’s a good chance for WPG to get that big rd. That said, if the jets don’t think lundell (or another center) will drop, I move the 2020 2nd without thinking twice. Solve one problem at a time

Good job
