Description
FA Signing:
Demelo may fetch more than 1.75 in FA but with teams being financially strapped due to pandemic Leafs may be able to capitalize on a singing like this.

If Demelo signs for more, i’m happy with leafs leaving him be and trying Dermott on right side with Rielly or Muzzin to begin season. If defense is still shaky come quarter way mark, i think the leafs explore trading a draft pick or prospect for a bonafide top 4 Dman with expiring contract, and potentially resign (as they did with Muzzin)

Goaltending:
-i think Freddy has done more than enough bailing out the leafs for 4 years to earn one last year with an optimistically better defense core and system to support him. The trade value for him after this season isn’t close to what he’s worth when on his game.

Other:
I opted to keep Sandin and Liljegren in minors for one last season to play top pairing minutes rather, unless they show that they can steal a full time top 6 job in training camp.

Lastly, plz don’t abuse me in the comments, .it’s just for funzies...

Wild need Hartman more than Johnsson so i doubt they'd be all too interested

I pinned both Boston game 7 losses on Andersen not Gardiner and I don't like Gardiner. That being said with the goalie market this offseason, I definitely think Andersen is the best option for the Leafs at this point. And to your point with a better D-corps he would do better and the Leafs had most of their forwards stumble offensively these playoffs which didn't give Andersen goal scoring support.

I also feel that Sandin and Liljegren should stay in the minors all year and develop.

As for the trades, I am not sure if Larsson would be much better than Ceci at this point.

Unfortunately, they may not have a choice but to make these kind of moves with their owners financial situation.

Fair enough, just figured that Minni could use extra scoring depth with Koivu likely retiring but maybe Bjugstad can resurrect his career back home.

Crouse is making $1.5 million dollars they have much more expensive players they can move to make space. And they won’t have to add Crouse as a sweetener in those deals either

Tough to say, both players are heavily criticized, but i feel that Larsson is better sound defensively. Worst case if they made this deal and Larsson wasn’t what they hoped, he’s only signed for the upcoming year, and they can get creative to add another dman mid season.

Hossa is the piece that really matters though. Unless his LTIR is insured, they may be looking for a team to take on the cash for him which does take sweeteners like Crouse.

I guess what i’m saying is that in this scenario would you rather they trade OEL or Kuemper for lesser value, or a guy like Crouse?

Why are they going to get less value for OEL or Keumper? If they really need to get money off the books they’ll trade Hammer, Demers, Goligoski, Stepan, and Raanta before they’d trade Hossa’s contract, which is insured by the way, and keep Crouse for themselves

Oh okay, if it’s insured they won’t have to worry much about it then.

For Minnesota and Edmonton trades what about putting Kerfoot and Johnsson in opposite trades? Minnesota is weak at center and Edmonton needs wingers. I bet that gets it done pretty easily for both trades.

If Hossa deal is insured, I wonder if they’d do Engvall+a 2nd or 3rd for Crouse. Think he’d be a good fit for Toronto.

The last thing they need is another LHW & Sturm should be Koivu's replacement

Much rather give up a comparable pick or player than Hartman.

I can see Hjalmarsson or Demers for a second and Engvall, but not Crouse. Or one of the dmen and Fischer for Engvall and Kerfoot or AJ. Basically even money and cap.
