I could stomach losing Domi, Caufield+ to get Laine.

But losing Caufield and Romanov in the same trade may be too much to handle.

No thanks . We’ll keep our 2 players on ELC and spend elsewhere .cap management is key. Moreover, they have elite potential .

Yeah unfortunately we aren’t going to get a return like that for him I don’t think. I think the best they would do in real life is something like Danault (extended), Caufield, and 16 OA. That’s probably the max we would get

If the base is Danault, Caufield and a 1st then I could see Chevy getting Bergevin to add in a defenseman/defensive prospect since we're drowning in them.

This is why he wo t get traded IMO. The jets would need to get a haul like this to justify moving him but no team is going to want to pay that much knowing he is going to want to break the bank in 1 year. But I imagine him wanting to break the bank is the biggest reason they want to move him, in a flat cap world how do you justify paying 9 mil for a 1 dimensional player.

I'd do it. The framework of this trade is similar to the Pacioretty trade, with a premium since Laine is younger and a pending RFA: two high-end prospects instead of one, plus one established player.

MTL adds an elite goal scorer now, and doesn't lose much in Domi as he's expendable. The real risk here for MTL is Romanov.

Too much for Laine. Montreal says no as it guts their prospect pool.
