Toronto dorsn't need another multi-million dollar burden, especially with a goalie who's gonna start declining any second now (fight me)

Eichel to Vegas trade which wouldn’t happen.

Shea Theodore, William Karlsson, Cody glass. They probably would want more back too.

homie you're not getting a top 10 dman a borderline 1c and a top 15 nhl prospect for eichel. realistically any trade involving him is gonna be an L because its so difficult to gauge star players value

Well if Vegas calls buffalo I’m fairly certain they would ask for a lot. Buffalo has no reason to trade Eichel.

he won't be traded unless he wants to be. its impossible to guess what he's worth either way though

Even if he wants to be they don’t have to move him. Ristolainen has been asking out for two plus seasons and he’s unfortunately on the Sabres still.

What would be your top 10 D? Just curious. I'm not sure Theodore should be considered top 10 yet -- he's having a phenomenal playoffs, but I want to see him continue it into next season before I put him in the top 10.

This i agree with. Its the littany of posts where 5 painless/marginally worthless pieces get moved for eichel that has gotten pretty old, followed by the declaration that you cant win this type of trade, and concluded with the "youre gonna be reeeeeealy disappointed when you see what he gets traded for". Hes 23, a franchise center, signed for several years. Unless gms are willing to engage in collusion against the sabres, and artificially keep the market bad, i cant see it. Owners and gms, that mind you, bring us the annual july 1st of stupidity, when 30 year old ufas get 7 years and a power ball jackpot contract. Itll be a game of chicken, who wants to add on one more piece with value, with the idea that buffalo will probably have to take back 10 million in cap one way or another.

yupp I agree with this. all just thinking for the sake of it on this website yk

in all honesty i think there's like a 2% chance he actually gets moved because franchise players don't get dealt easily.

hedman josi pietrangelo hamilton carlson mcavoy theodore heiskanen then for 9-10 ekblad/hughes/makar/chabot. theodore is a possession and shot generation machine while passing the eye test with flying colors, now that he's starting to get the point totals to back it up (as insignificant as basic stats like that are) I think he'll start to get more recognition pretty soon here

he's been playing like this all year

I can see a scenario where the leafs make a play for Flower. It would likely require retention (and a bigger return for LV)....but I could see Dubas looking for a tender with proven playoff success.

Exactly what dumb dumb Botterill took back in the ROR trade two stumble bums . Funny this should come up as I was looking into what Eichel is worth and what team has the right pieces. I've looked at teams with good prospects and vets that would help the Sabres. Thought about NY but it would have to start with Zibanejad and I don't know if they would do that

Though I agree with this but all he has to do is bad mouth the organization enough to the press and Kimmy will get upset and order him gone. ROR did that summer interview and right after that he was gone. She made sure that 7.5M bonus wasn't paid and they got diddly squat in return. There was no reason to rush a trade when ROR was under contract and had no extra movement or trade clauses to hamper a trade farther down the road.

Where would you have Jones, Werenski, Slavin, Spurgeon, and Ellis? Would you have them behind that group in your 9-10 range?

I'd probably have Hedman, Josi, Pietrangelo, Hamilton, Carlson, Jones, Heiskanen as my locks for top 7 (not really in any order right now) and then McAvoy / Chabot / Slavin / Ellis / Spurgeon / Werenski / Theodore all in consideration for those final 3 spots. I love Makar and Hughes, but wouldn't put them top 10 yet as they're more

Edit: ...they're more offensive, but I'm not sure their defensive game is there yet.

I only mention it because a budget neutral trade would open the market up to more teams, which would drive the price up. If you can only trade a guy to a few select teams, it potentially is bad for us. It doesnt have to be the steaming pile of sobotka that we got back, it could be marginally useful players too, the idea being that a team at the cap just cant trade futures for a 10 million dollar player, at least without making other trades, which isnt a great scenario im sure.

I would have those players all on the bubble. wouldn't consider heiskanen a lock for top 7 quite yet, imo he's pretty even with Theodore. mcavoy is massively underrated imo
