Everyone Trading Carolina Their Goalies

Description
There isnt a chance Carolina trades for a Goalie whos gonna want 6mil plus.

We have our Goalie coming in at 13th overall this year! Askarov may not make the NHL is his first year, but the Canes have had decent luck with their "average" goalies (other than Darling), so keeping that rolling until Askarov is ready is no issue.

Long Term IR: Players I wouldn't mind signing. Nothing longer than a 2-3 year deal. 1 year might be ideal for most of them.

Scratches: Player who will see the NHL in the next couple years.

Injured Reserve: Players who I wouldnt mind trading for our top 6. Not much available.

I have no issues if the canes go after a player like markstrom for around 6 mil. While Askarov is seen as a great goaltending prospect, draft a goalie is very random and plenty of 1st rounder goalies do not pan out. I they do pan out, it could easily be 3-4 years until they make the NHL. There is no way the canes can draft askavor and then expect him to be the answer in a year. I would prefer the canes give markstrom like a 4 year deal, and maybe the last 2 years Askarov can come in as the backup.

Most 1st round Goalies turn out to at least be good for certain amount of time.

Here is a list of active first round goalies: https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl-draft/en/round/1-round-draft-picks-active-goalies-all-time-games-played-leaders.html

You could also add Markstrom to that list as he was picked 31st Overall, but at the time that was the 1st pick of the 2nd round.

There are plenty that have not panned out, and they do not alwasy make an impact right away. You can't legitimately expect him to be ready for 3 seasons

Which goalies have not panned out? Curious

What I have researched is that MOST of the goalies picked in the 1st have a great chance of being good/elite for a period of time. Lots have turned out ELITE

Just in the last 12 years: Pickard never played in the NHL, Campbell has been a career backup, Samsonov was drafted 5 years ago and is just now getting a starting job, Oettinger has yet to have an impact in 3 years, Subban has been a career backupp. Vasilevsky obviously was a great pick and its way to early to say anything about Knight. All im saying if you draft Askarov you can not expect an immediate impact

Re-read the description! I didnt say he wouldnt be an immediate impact.

I know but im saying it may be 3 years until Askarov is in the NHL. So someone like markstrom for 4 years make a ton of sense. Askarov can come in and be a backup for 1-2 years and then take over as the starter
