Detroit's 2nd is none negotiable, Edmonton's 2nd and a 3rd might be negotiable though.

Or Detroit adds Cholowski to the deal. Cholowski+Edmonton's 2020 2nd round pick is more then fair for Alexander Georgiev.

We'll agree to disagree, I guess. Draft picks are for building a team and filling needs. One of the Wing's biggest needs right now is getting a prospect "goalie of the future" in the pipeline.

Yeah No sorry a Goalie with only 77 career games under his belt isn't worth basically a late 1st round pick. We don't need him that bad plenty of UFA Goalies available.

So a player that has NHL experience, has shown promise on a professional level and is still on an RFA contract is worth less than a prospect that has never played a pro game in his life. Got it wink

Id do the 2nd for him, id kick in a 4th the next year if I had too. If it costs more than that i might as well look at murray or we bandaid for another season.

Using that logic, Lefreniere < Zadina. To determine value you have to establish comps what goalie recently went for a 32OV pick? Lehner? He had better numbers but that offsets the pick differential between what Sabres gave up and Detroit would in this deal. Was the considered a win for Buffalo when it happened, no but it had promise. I personally would rather go after a UFA and save the 32OV but that doesn’t mean that unproven prospect is worth more like your logic but rather a different approach to asset management.

I appreciate your use of "different approach to asset management" rather than the implication or use of "right" or "wrong." If you think that the speculative value of the 32OA has more value than Georgiev than keep your pick. Any pick in the draft past the first round is the equivalent of picking tech stocks in the late 1990's. Bird in the hand or two in the bush? My logic was not applied to Laf over Zadina... it was applied to the speculative value of a 32OV vs a current prospect with NHL value. Apples and Oranges smile

The logic applies to anyone in the 2020 draft since they’re merely draft picks at this point. So Zadina vs 1OV so it wouldn’t be apples to oranges using your logic. I wouldn’t say there is a cut off at 32OV that makes it like picking tech stocks pre-internet bubble as the odds are on an exponential curve so that the top 10 picks will skew results. Here is an interesting article to help articulate (bellow). I hate when someone says some is right or wrong without any factual data but pure speculation we just differ in asset management approaches.

I think the values good considering it's pick 32, but they're prob gonna hold onto Georgiev.
