Brodin has a full NMC. Also how are yall gonna say brodin is too much, dumba is too much, spurgeon is too much, They are all amazing top 4 defenseman. Spurgeon yes should be lower, Suter is the awful contract
I don't know why you responded to me to make this point because it has little to do with what I was saying but alright let's talk about this.
The going rate for a player like Brodin is significantly lower than 6x7. He's a great player, which I said, but this contract absolutely overpays him. And Brodin didn't have a NMC before he signed this contract. I'm saying they should have traded him instead of re-signing him if this was going to be his asking price.
Spurgeon should not be lower. He is well paid for what he does, which is being an elite defenseman. Great contract, no notes.
Suter, yes, awful contract.
I never said Dumba's contract was too much, I just said he was overrated, which is true. "Amazing" top four defenseman? Idk, he's good, but amazing? The idea that they need to move heaven and earth to keep him, which they did in the Vegas draft and now we're talking about doing something weird again, is silly. I also said that what is handcuffing this team is the contracts for declining players deep in the thirties. That's not Dumba. But because of the decisions to sign those other contracts, that's going to cost you stuff now. Dumba's contract is fine and he is worth a lot to the league but he is not deserving of being an untouchable part of this team, he simply does not provide enough value to warrant it- he's overrated. This is especially true when they've got Addison, who will be cheap, coming up. It would have been smarter to keep Dumba through the expansion draft and seamlessly transition. With the Brodin extension, now they don't have that luxury, because Dumba will cost assets to protect (not worth it) or he's gone for nothing. You have to trade Dumba before the expansion draft now.
