I am strongly against an OEL trade. I’m not convinced he’s really worth the ‘upgrade’ when he’ll cost an extra $2.65M over the next two years and is quite a few years older on an 8 year deal. Then to lose a 1st round pick on top of that...

Vinny is overpaid, Hammer should be in the top 4, Soderstrom starts in the AHL, both teams in the EDM deal decline, and Juolevi is not worth taking on Erickson for 2 years

OEL isn’t that much of an upgrade on Nurse. I know there are rumors about OEL going to Edmonton, but Oilers aren’t going to want that cap hit for the next 7 years on a guy who’s best years are likely behind him

So they can get their draft picks back that they lost in the Chayka scandal. All of them expire within one to two years so their cap space will open up before any of their stars hit the market
