About?

Isn't Mete worth a third and Poehling looks like a bust? and you want Pajuniemi for them?

Don't think PIT is interested. They're lacking in right shot wingers as it is, Rust was a PPG player last year and Poulin is by far their best prospect. Two pending UFAs for two important long-term assets just seem like weak asset management imo.

Poehling is 21 and drafted in the 1st round of the 2017 draft. He hasn't been able to crack a deep Habs roster at his position but he looked much better later in the year in Laval. He could potentially break out and fill the 2nd or 3rd center hole in N.Y. Mete is worth a mid to late 2nd and fills a depth LHD hole on your blueline. So you get 2 potential roster players and a 2nd for a winger who likely won't even crack your roster for 3-5 years given the young depth you have at his position.

yup. definitely not the worst proposal I've seen on here, but Pens still say no.

Idk where are you coming from with Poehling being a bust... i hope ya kidding because the guy is 21 and literally played 1 season in the NHL. idk anything about the rangers prospect but Poehling isnt a bust. if he doesnt progress for the next 2 years then yes.

Tatar would not be a pending UFA as was stated in the discription he was extended. I meant to add an extention for Armia as well at say 3.5 x 5. This move was more about helping extend the window for the Pens. I just didn't realize Rust was a right shot. We could swap Guentzel but I have a feeling that would also be met with resistance due to the fact he is 3 years younger.

We definitely rather give up Rusty over Jake lol. With that said, it's a solid offer but we're good. We'll keep our cost controlled RW, but we can make a deal for a dman wink

Yeah Guentzel is even better than Rust so that doesn't work. Furthermore, Pens doesn't have the cap to spend $10M for Armia and Tatar, when Rust and Poulin bring pretty much the same results with only $4M...

Ryan Poehling is in the exact position Danault was before getting trade. Same type of player, plays a 200 ft game, good defensively, maybe Poehling have more seize and hands then Danault but Danault better defensively. A team should try to acquire him, if I’m Bergevin I wouldn’t dealt him until one of Domi or Danault are signed long terms

Yeah I kind of thought it was a long shot but figured why not try LOL. Habs have a boatload of dmen and you can make an offer for any not named Romanov, Norlinder, Struble or Petry.

tbh id roll the dice in trying to acquire poehling and put him at 3C. It would definitely be a risk putting an unknown rookie in that position, but if it works out, we'd have a cost controlled 3C on an ELC

I'd agree with you on Mete (worth a 3rd), but Poehling is still a legit prospect. Had a rough start, got better as the season went on.

I don't fully agree with all his assessments, but Corey Pronman (The Athletic) did a prospect pool review of all teams. For the Habs, he still projects Poehling as a 2nd line forward.

That is kind of why I had him going to N.Y. they desperately need centers and Poehling can play well enough defensively and has the skill to play 2C but would be better at 3C and given the depth the Rangers have on the wing I kind of thought there was a match.

Would rather pay Rust 3.5 for the next two years than whatever money Tatar wants, Malkin just had a great season next to him

Poulin probably isn't available unless something earth shattering is going the other way, the org is high on him and his 3 year ELC helps the cap situation a lot

Here’s the problem we don’t need a 3C that may or may not (likely not) turn into a 2c we need A 2C now and with the way pujuniemi played this season I’d hold onto him for at least another season unless it’s in a bigger trade
