Buffalo trade is a total mess on most accounts.

Pick is going the wrong way in Devils trade.

Winnipeg trade seems fair and like a good idea tbh

Probably botched that Buf trade. Reevaluation needed. Stand by the other two.

Laine is 5 years younger and not a free agent in 2 years

95% chance Johnny would resign with Philly so that is a really bad argument also Johnny is the much better player

I have not see a single trade that is Frost sanheim and a first for Gaudreau every trade either involves Konecny or Myers or Frost and Patrick that's the biggest difference and Laine is a RW

Konecny won't happen, the rest of those pieces are semantics. 2 young guys and a 1st, also usually includes JVR or Ghost going back for cap reasons. Also Laine is a LW, he rarely ever plays on the right side

Myers won’t happen bc he’s a young RHD and they are thin at the position with nothing really coming in the future. Sanhiem is expendable bc they have Zamula and York coming with Ghost and Hagg here already. But a trade involving Sanhiem and another piece or two for Gaudreau is definitely a possibility.

and don't forget both can be inconsistent, but at their best, Laine is better.

No need to defend this. Its a fair deal for Laine. If we gave up that much for Johnny it would be an overpay. Just how value works. Gaudreau is over-rated at this point. Love the person and he's a good player, but I think fans value him much more than the league does.

So if there's a 95% chance he'd sign in Philly anways why would they pay that heavy of a package for two extra years of Gaudreau?

If Johnny were traded to Philly there is an extremely high chance he would resign with them. If Calgary keeps him there is a solid chance he resigns with the Flames

Sanheim can play both sides, I would think he is more untouchable than Myers but I would probably do Sanheim, Frost, and a 1st for Johnny

Likely no pick then if that's the case. Look at other trades of this scale, it is never that heavy in one direction.

After listening to the comments, how would you change the Sabre trade?
Let me add.
It is unlikely that Kim would want to add $8,250,000 to the cap this year.
It has been widely reported that she is more concerned with cutting expenses than icing a hockey team.

Part of why I think they might take on the voracek despite his cap number is the salary is less. Specifically his contract was front loaded so the remaining salary (assuming flyers pay the signing bonus for this year) would be $18.5 for the last four years as opposed to the over 32M in cap hit. Flyers need a PKer who can play solid. Biggest part that was wrong above is potentially overvaluing what Monty would get on AAV and the draft capital as opposed to the motivation for doing it.
