Finally, a Connor Murphy trade that doesn't take Nylander!

I am not sure the Hawks want to do all those trades. They traded major assets to Alex Nylander, Maatta and De Haan, they'd be selling low on all of those.

I think I'd probably take it as well. I do like Dermott and think he is going to have a good career but this does help balance the Blueline better.

I dont think this blueline is better. Murphy is better than Tanev and koekkoek is just as good as Dermott (probably better than dermott defensivly atcully) and both of those guys are cheaper than what you did.

Why in the world would the Hawks bring in Dermott while giving up our best defender? Hawks have too big of a logjam of 3rd liners, we don't need to give up a very good asset and overpay a guy to play 3rd line when we have capable ELC players.

We also aren't moving Nylander for picks, that would be Bowman making himself look bad. Nylander as part of a package for a better place is one thing but not for purely picks.

Yeah this was my thinking, the Kings would maybe work in a three-way trade where the Kings end up eat cap of a player who fills an immediate need for the Hawks. Other than that not sure the Kings are interested in giving up futures for a project that is looking like the majority of their prospect depth (middle-six players)

The reason why I like the trade is that we aren't giving up too many futures to acquire a defensemen we need. Dermott hasn't proved much and the 2nd round pick can turn into anything

I don't think you can say Murphy is Chicago's best defenseman. He's not much more than a 3/4 dman AT BEST. Look at a team like Carolina. They don't have anyone comparable to Murphy other than Edmundson. All their Dmen are 2 way or Offensive. They all put up some points. I've never liked Murphy because of what was given up for him. He is no where near what Hjalmarsson is now, let alone an in his prime Hammer. That trade sucked and so does Murphy.

Who do you think is a better defender in Chicago then Murphy? I'll give you a hint, there is nobody which is according to advanced stats. Want to know one of the worst defenders this year in Chicago? Keith and yet you think he's still a first liner and should be paired with another rookie while bagging on Murphy. Want to know when Keith put up his best numbers this year? It was with Murphy.

Carolina is a anomaly as they have one of the deepest defensive teams in the league and they are NOT all offensive D guys, but wait for this, when you have a very deep defensive groups and strong offensive group the D man are going to put up points; shocker!

Murphy is a 2nd liner on most good teams, a first liner on below average teams.

The comedy behind all this is you don't like Murphy, despite all the analytics who prove he is a very solid physical defender and yet you bring in a guy like Dermott who is noticeably worse and wouldn't even crack the lineup on the team you are trying to compare chicago too...Carolina? You are making no logical sense here and your analysis of Murphy is not supported by the beat writers nor advanced stats.

...and by the way, I'd easily take Murphy over Jammer since that trade happened as Jammer is not near the player he used to be, has a shorter and more expensive contract, is 6 years older, and has played 30 less regular season games due to injury.

You lack patience. Dermott has been very good considering he is 23 and defenceman take longer to develop. I like him and think he may become a good top 4 guy soon.

Wow there really is no other way than your way is there? You can't be talked to or reasoned with so just don't comment on my posts. Thanks

I believe in truths and do enough digging into stats, analytics and professional opinions to deduce what is true and what is not. You didn't share anything of substance (facts, analytics, professional opinions) other then your incorrect opinion that you think Murphy is bad and the measuring stick is using Carolina's defense while on the other hand thinking Dermott is good. I'm all ears and open to alternative viewpoints that have evidence otherwise, you just didn't share any so I can't be reasoned with using no evidence; the world doesn't work like that if you want a good debate.

This is a public forum and when you post ideas it's fair game for us all to criticize the idea, feel free to ignore my comments if you aren't up to debating with substance.
