This was kind of like my reaction yesterday when some Pens fan suggested Letang for Eller, a first, plus Orlov, who is like a younger, healthier Letang, without the power play opportunities.

Murray isn't signing that cheaply try more like 5 x $5m or 5 x $5.5m no freaking way he's taking a $250,000 raise when he has salary arbitration. Good luck resigning Ovechkin with Letang and Murray.

With a lot of rookie goalie in the playoffs this year, a lot of RFA goalies are going to sign inexpensive contracts this summer to stay with teams that don't necessarily need them. By the time arbitration rolls around, Murray will sign for about 4M. Whether that's a good deal depends on his health and how he plays.

Murray would be a fool to sign for only $4m that's only a $250,000 raise for him flat cap and all. He might take a 4 x $4.5m deal that's a$750,000 raise doubt he takes any less by all reports he wants to get paid.

Thanks. Then the Caps probably go with a different backup.

Over the last five seasons, Letang has 20 more even strength points than Orlov (an average of four more each year), but Orlov is four years younger and $2,125,000 softer on the salary cap.

Letang plays bigger minutes some years, and then gets injured. Does he have more endurance? Who knows. Who cares. Keeping Orlov makes more sense for a team that has Carlson and Ovechkin on the points of its power play for the first 1:30.

eta: Orlov is also slightly more effective on PK, but Letang obviuosly is a power play superstar almost as good as Carlson on the right point. He has tons of trade value, expecially on a short, low-risk contract. Good luck finding the right spot, if that's the route y'all go.

I agree, caps dont need/want Letang, and pens dont want to sell him for less than what hes worth. All the Letang rumours just need to die
