Malkin literally led the league in 5v5 points/60. This value is stupid.

Is this a freaking joke? You don't trade a 26 year old for a 34 year old. Malkin wont help us for 2 seasons and no freaking way he waives his NMC for Detroit any ways.

Yeah wings decline, why would we want a 57 year old center who makes a lot for one of our top players during a rebuild? Pens would have to add more then they even have

Think both teams decline. Malkin's better, but also older and DET won't really be able to use the guy properly during their rebuild. Mantha is likely a better long-term investment.

Detroit declines because we won’t trade one of our best young players for a guy in his mid 30’s.

Pittsburgh declines because they won’t want to downgrade when they think they’re a contending team

yup. makes zero sense for both teams, although in a pure vacuum, if Detroit was a "malkin type" player away from contending, thats still not enough for Geno

God you don't know how the nhl works. Rebuilding teams don't take 34 year olds for their top younger player. It's not how the nhl works. If you said malkin to avs or vegas I get it, but wings this makes less then 0 sense. Learn about how rebuilds work, learn about how power forward younger players don't get traded for older players, learn how the nhl works. You literally have no clue how the red wings are rebuilding, and Malkin is not it clowndog

I’d do it from Detroit under the condition it was a three way trade with VGK where we retain enough and take back on salary but get Glass + Krebs. I know I’m going to get all kinds of bashed for this but you add Malkin and Karlsson as the top 2 centers with that core and that’s a cup but also closes the window faster but damn would that be fun to watch live.

I understand that Detroit is rebuilding and doesn't have any interest in Malkin you "clown dog". But from a pure value perspective, Pittsburgh gets shafted. Sure it doesn't make sense for Detroit, but its an even worse trade for pittsburgh..

Disagree, they get a top winger whose 12 years younger who can reinvigorate that franchise. Malkin is past his prime, rather have mantha

DET wouldn't do it because they are still rebuilding. They might do it just to flip him for something better.

malkin led the league in even strength PP/60 this year lol. he was on pace for 110 points. its not even close. Malkin is still better in every way, shape, and form, and will be for the next few years

This would be a really good trade if Pittsburgh had Mantha and traded him for malkin.

As is, this is horrid.

plus Mantha is a winger. We wouldnt have a solid second line centre if this was thing. Not to mention Malkin makes a **** ton and would be 34 on a rebuilding team

Didnt really notice Malkin all that much in the bubble vs MTL though. DET would be dumb to do this.
