Hmmm it's a lot but I would do it. And I think the blues might also.

Blue chip forward prospect, 15th overall and a B+ dman prospect who is old enough to show his worth at the next level.

it's a lot for 2 years but Parayko is a special player. Would Blues add a 3 round pick if Lily gets added?

Parayko + 3rd + useless prospect (for total contract purposes, we see this all the time) for Robertson, 15th OA and Lily?

Hmm, I don't know. Robertson looks like he will be a future 60-70-80 point scorer.

All 3? That’s the leafs figure (outside of Sandin) and sorta current as well because they need ELC’s, for 2 years of a guy. I think I’d rather get two 3 million dollar FA’s rather than give up 2 of those pieces. Maybe that’s just me tho.

I would not do it as a Leafs fan.

If the Blues did not do it for Robertson + 1st 2020 + Liljegren they'd be foolish IMO.

It would basically solve all of their cap issues, allow them to re-sign AP, add a top six winger on an ELC for the next three years and a young RHD on an ELC for the next three years.

Steep price, but worth it for St. Louis who is already stacked on the right side of their D Core.

Anyone who says that offer I suggested here would not be enough for Parayko is out to lunch IMO.

Parayko probably not getting moved at all, but that's the type of return that checks the boxes for me. I've made an armchair with those pieces in the STL lineup and it really lacks a defensive anchor, but overall it's solid as long as Petro can perform to his contract for a few more years.

If we didn't have the anchor contract of Justin Faulk I'd disagree with you, but in terms of asset management, picking Petro over Parayko and getting 3 useful pieces that will likely all make their way into the lineup on ELCs, one of which has top-line potential, seems like a no-brainer. I'd only cry about losing Parayko for a little bit.

Exactly my line of thinking.

I'm not sure why the Blues did what they did with acquiring and extending Faulk in the first place but, what's done is done. (Perhaps to pressure AP to re-sign at a lower AAV)??

I agree that keeping Payrako would be my preference too over Faulk but, It is what it is.

I think we are on the same page here.

No this bottom 6 is quite good. A lot bigger and tougher than the current bottom 6.

Yep. Unless there is the total wildcard chance of someone trading for Faulk this offseason *crosses fingers*.

If you look at a Blues roster with Pietrangelo, Parayko, and Faulk - aka Bozak and co. were moved to get the cap space for Petro - it puts someone on their off-side, essentially blocking Dunn from more ice time (again), or you leave Faulk at the 3RD making 6.5m, which is exactly what we avoided by trading Shattenkirk years ago. IMO the only way we're gonna get close to fair value out of Faulk's contract is to give him a full-time top 4 RD slot with a safe partner like Scandella... aka Parayko's spot. So you either sign AP and trade Parayko for a home run package, or you let Pietrangelo walk and run Parayko RD1 and Faulk RD2. Sucks but that's where we're at.

Well you can swap him with Thornton, Spezza, Engvall as well. Paul is a Big hard hitting centre, who wins faceoffs. I don;t know anything other than that about him. So maybe he is AWFUL defensively. In that case, I wouldn't go for him.

Agreed 100%.

Refreshing to read logical and progressive thinking for a change.

I don't get much of that as a Leafs fan.

Thanks for posting.

Just an opinion, I'm sure there are plenty of Blues fans that won't listen to the words "Parayko" and "trade" in the same sentence tears of joy

More than "plenty", I would say "most".

I get it. Fans overvalue their own.
