He's not a C, Johansson is barely a C mostly a W who can take faceoffs if the C get kicked.

Yeah he's a winger. idk why I put C lol

Wonder if Staal will retire, the season is delayed by a lot and he doesn't want to leave Minnesota, won't be surprised if he packs it in now.

Lol they aren't trading Nelson unless Fiala heads back. Have you watched them in the postseason?

they are tearing it up! but they also just signed Pageau. I'm just looking at it from a cap space perspective they can't really afford barzal and field a team still. Barzal will get an offer sheet. The wild could just do that at 10m and hamstring the islanders. I just see something like a Nelson going back making more sense keeping all sides happy.

Would you trade Fiala for cap space reasons? or rather Foligno, Pateryn, Dubnyk, Staal, and Dumba?

Not sure what the fuss is all about. Staal is old and will be getting slower by the minute. Nice temporary mentor for Jack, unless of course they sulk together in perfect harmony lol. This might be a good gamble for MIN, sign him 2x3m ish and see if he reverts back to a decent point magnet. They obviously needs Cs, but resigning Staal for probably even more money would not have been wise. This trade kinda shows that teams are not taking on cap unless cap goes the other way. I'm assuming both teams would have preferred a 3rd ish round pick instead.

Staal is a one year stop gap to shelter Dylan Cozens. Marcus Johansson can't play center. It's a solid deal.

Crazy condensed schedule next year, in this crazy fast league, I don't think he shows up for many of those 82 games personally. Sure for Buf it's a no lose trade, even a good gamble. Also a no lose for MIN, maybe a decent mid-liner for 1-2yrs.

Eric Staal was a 1C in Minnesota. He'll get a little bit less ice time. It's a good gamble.
