Why is trading for Freddy good for a team trying to move Murray because they have a new starter and a new backup?
Remus and Rhea liked this.

I think having Murray would be good because we could probably sign him for around 4 to 4.5 million for 2 or 3 years plus jack Campbell and Murray share the net next year so both goalies aren’t tired once playoffs start.

How doesn’t it help Pittsburgh? If anything Toronto is giving away to much in this trade.

They don’t know if Jarry is going to pan out, this was his first year ever producing. Rather be safe then sorry

"Rather be safe then sorry"

You mean like re signing Murray and having nothing to do with this deal?

They don't know Jarry is going to pan out. It's not an exact science. But if you move Murray, you've decided to go with Jarry. That's how that works. You don't pick your starter, trade the other guy for another starter then keep DeSmith in the AHL and go exactly nowhere.

You're also trying to dump 9 million cap on a team that just threw away Bjugstad simply to dump 2 million in cap and telling them you're "giving too much"

Every part of this deal is you getting what you want and giving them Liljegren and a first and a pile of stuff they can't afford or use.

0/10 actually zero

Toronto would be taking a risk with Letang because he is always hurt plus Pittsburgh has no first rounder this year or next plus there team is old, having a young stud prospect dman and young players wouldn’t be so bad for them, I don’t understand how you don’t like this trade? If Anderson was out of the trade would that make you happy and Toronto give up a second or third rounder instead?

Pull Freddy out. Pull Holl out. Pull Johnsson out. That fixes the money problem Pit would have. Now replace Freddy's value with something like Mikheyev and a 2nd.

Then you have to recoup value by moving Freddy elsewhere. Or move Freddy first and use whatever you get instead of Mikheyev and a pick.

If you don't like Letangs risk, don't trade for him. You can't ask for a player and then complain about risk. Pit isn't shopping Letang, probably because they don't think they could get value for a risky player, but if someone asks for him then that's on them. Tor clearly wants D out of this but your offer is trying to solve three problems for Toronto at once. Top 4 D, Starting Goalie and cap issues. Pit isn't going to give you all of those.
