Zucker and Granlund trades were good, the other 3 aren't looking good

Lol it’s so weird. Sometimes they get a trade that makes you go “where the **** did that brain you had when you called Pittsburgh go, and why doesn’t it just stay?”

I think we have to interpret the staal trade as a message. Staal could have brought back a little more but the timing of it says Guerin thought it was more important to change the club house mentality than get an extra lotto card. Still shocking and odd.

the only reasonable explanation is that he is 6 years younger and they can extend him if he plays well, whereas Eric Staal is old and will retire soon. Still a win for BUF though imo

      Fenton:
The Nino/Rask trade isn't so bad when you look at the season each of them had last year. Nino returned to the form he was in when MN traded him. Rask was just a roster filler, but chipped in at better rate than Nino 5v5.
Coyle/Donato trade I'd make every time.
Granny/Fiala looked bad at the time, but looks great for MN now.
      Guerin:
Zucker for futures and a expiring cap dump was a quality trade.
      Staal/MaJo looks awful.
Bjugstad (halfprice) for nothing isn't bad.

I just have to think it sets him up to trade another wing in a package for a C.

Apparently Johansson played under Evason in Washington where he was more productive. Seeing Russo’s tweets about it, Guerin didn’t have confidence in Staal giving it everything everyday, which makes me more ok with the move.
