Defensemen that do everything

Created by: Hawks_Are_Dumm
Team: 2020-21 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 16, 2020
Published: Sep. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I really hope Ian Mitchell is as advertised. If so, he and keith could be real nice together. I would like to see Vatanen and Murphy, I think that would be a solid pairing too. I hope Boqvist gets upwards of 40-50 points. In an ideal world, Boqvist scores 50 points, Seabrook scores 20, Vatanen scores 40, Keith gets 40, Murphy hits and blocks everything that moves, and Mitchell is young Duncan Keith. After a near career year, Saad's value is high as a rental. Move him now to get the best possible return.

Johnson sure does everything... to hurt your team. Don't do that deal.

Ottawa trade is heavily in our favor (mind you this is coming from me, a notorious Nylander defender). I have no idea what the rational of the PIT trade is, the OTT trade is too many picks coming back. I assume any team trading for Maatta is going to trade a pick in next years draft as well.

The saad trade is probably an overpayment, you can probably get Lehk or Poehling... not both.

The pens want zero part of that deal. We need cap room not a bigger cap hit this year and next year

I won’t get into the trades since everyone has pretty hit the nails on the head so far. What I will address is your expectations of the dmen on the team. I’m just gonna say it: there is no way boqvist hits 50, let alone vatanen or Keith Hitting 40. That’s not a comment of their talent, that’s a comment on the style of play the hawks have as well as the coaching this team has. If Tomas mitell comes back next year, our pp will be garbage again, and Colliton alone doesn’t allow offensive dmen to play to their strengths, not even a little. So honestly, this is extremely optimistic given the way this team plays. If Colliton and mitell were gone and someone like gallant came in, sure, I buy it.

Why is that so? If they want to buy him out, they can do that easily. Otherwise, he's a serviceable number 4/5 defenseman.

I get that. I know Colliton is a hard ass considering Kane doesn't seem to like him or play his best under him

JJ has a relatively buyout-friendly contract. The point is I want McCann and cap space.

Yea, believe me, if it was anyone but Colliton, I’m fully on board with these expectations. Kane and even toews don’t seem to be fully bought in with him.

I think Gallant or even Boudreau would do well in Chicago. I don't really like Boudreau's personality but he's a successful coach.

Yea, I love gallant. Boudreau is definitely someone I’ve come around in in recent years as well. However, I’d probably prefer gallant.

Full disclosure, I had a nightmare like a week ago that the hawks hired Babcock........😬
