Flat Cap Leafs

Created by: aadoyle
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2020
Published: Sep. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Dubas does not move the 1st but wants a good Dcore this probs would have to happen.

Leaving
1. Johnsson
2. Kerfoot
3. Dermott (no spot on the D or Dubas decides to get some value for him before seattle)

Joining
1. Hamonic (other than Braun good partner for Rielly)
2. Demelo (upgrade over Holl and should play well with Muzzin in a shutdown role)
3. Simmonds joins on a spezza welcome home deal
4. Nick Paul (Ottawa and Toronto make a deal almost every year and the guy is a budget kerfoot who hits more)
5. Lehtonen and Barbanov come from KHL

Main points
Hamonic signs a 4mill 4 year deal with the leafs including a massive 1st year signing bonus
Demelo same as Hamonic but 3.5 mill for 4 years and gets a signing bonus

Plan works as seattle takes Engvall and Holl. Holls money goes to Hymans extension, brooks or Gauthier replace engval at 4c.

Still though i see that 1st getting moved as for who it could be your guess is as good as mine

i was gonna do that but wasnt sure who to send. Most posts often chose johnsson which is why i did that. But still, both have been favored and heck could send both over.

kerfoots is heading to the sharks lul and Johnssons going to the oilers. And i believe they would have interest in him for he fits 2 holes. He can play both 3c and LW which for a team needing wing depth would be an added bonus. He is very good defensively 5 vs 5 and can help on the penalty kill. If not Johnsson is a good alternative. Can play well with top 6 centers and can do well on both the pp and pk.

can't do both unless serious cap moves, but SJ was fighting hard to land Kerfoot when he first signed, and he fits our needs much more than Johnsson.

Doubt oilers want kerfoots term. Rental option to compete with haas for an extension. Term is same issue with Johnsson oilers can’t do without sending money back. Johnsson is more expensive than AA more term than AA will get. AA more upside. Neal is already on the team and even being broken for large portion of season still put up as many goals so bottom six doesn’t need Johnsson.

in general it works as San Jose is a good fit for kerfoot and Edmonton fits well for Johnsson as they need wings and he has shown he can do well with a top 6 center.

Very very much prefer Kerfoot. Rather pay two of our 2021 3rds though.

Who gets left unprotected. DeMelo or Homanic. Because you aren't leaving another forward available to protect all 4, including Rielly and Muzzin.

i mentioned that Dubas makes a deal with them to take Holl by sending them Engvall. They get a good depth defensive forward and a defenseman on a good contract. If necessary one of the 3rds will also go.

he would do well on that blue line as other than Lindgren the left side is not very impressive. Cause he would be a pretty good upgrade over smith and staal. He would also allow for Hajek to get some more development timein. Plus he wont cost much and could be the perfect partner with Trouba or Deangelo taking on the defensive responsibility.

1) Dermott will barely land you one 3rd let alone two, if he takes QO i rather play him on 3rd Pair RHD then 2M over-night wonder Holl

2) Johnsson will barely land you 3rd

3) Kerfoot will barely land you one 3rd let alone two

4) Mikheyev contract will be 1y for that AAV, he and his agent arent falling for visiting in Hospital when money comes to question

5) Robertson is far from ready, ask Petan and Brooks who were also 2 Points per Game ( tho in WHL ) or Bracco who was 1,5 PpG in OHL

I do like Hamonic watching Rielly's back and DeMelo taking off load from Muzzin tho.

Mikheyevs agent said in a russian interview that he and dubas were working on a deal between 1.5-1.75mill for 2-3 years. Eronko wrote the story for that. In general with the injury and only putting up 23 points hes not getting more or if he does its gonna be on a long term deal.

And man do you undervalue the leafs cause every time i see you its ur undervaluing leafs players. Dermott can easily get 2 3rds as he is young and has shown he can play big minutes and do well defensively. His stats rn are on par with many of the best NHL defenseman when they were his age.

Kerfoot can easily land a 2nd or 2 3rds. He is very good defensively and can do well on the pp and pk. Teams wanting a 2c/3c can easily use him and watch him bounce back to his 40+ point totals.

Johnsson can grab a 3rd as when healthy he can go back to being a 15-20 goal scorer. He is good on the pp and pk and can do well for a team needing wings.

Man if we let u value everyone u would say all are worth a 7th round picks lul.

well your lul tells me you must be a NHL 2018 brain-trust so let me try to clear some points, cause same as i may be the "undervalueter" , you might be one of those homers with blue blinders on and thinking everything what wears Blue-white is best in League

1) Dermott - check DeMelo, NHL is flooded with those and DeMelo is tad above Dermott quality-wise

2) Johnsson - check Vessey, Johnsson was leetching on Matthews for his 20 Goals, otherwise hes decent 30+ Points 3rd Liner at pay-check level of Bjorkstrand...guess what, NHL is flooded with those

3) Kerfoot - check Vessey, Kerfoot was leetching on 2nd PP Unit in COL and is LW by nature and C by force in TML as "substitution" for Kadri, otherwise hes decent 30+ Points 3rd Liner at pay-check level of Bjorkstrand...guess what, NHL is flooded with those

4) Mikheyev - well you got me there...lets see what end result will be

As for the 7ths, at least my 7ths would bring new Johnssons and Engvalls into the flock, while your humble demands will be rediculed here same as other TML homers are, not to mention real GMs who arent working their trades thru NHL 2018 simulator

Seems awfully generous of them, considering what other teams had to give to get Vegas to take their lesser players

i mean remember who vegas took from the leafs when there were better targets available. Heck hes not even in the nhl anymore lul

If seattle could get 2 cost effective players and a possible pick they would jump on that.

Who else was available? The leafs had no one of value available. Didn't Columbus give a 1st so they would take Karlsson?

they gave them a 1st to also take on David Clarksons contract. Leafs arent giving them any bad contracts. They are giving them a 3rd/4th line wing or center who can play both offense and defense and a borderline 2nd primarily 3rd pairing guy. If necessary Dubas would throw in a 3rd to make it even.

I just don't like that idea, I would rather just let them take who they want and make sure there isn't even a chance of that being an impactful player.

I had a thought, what about taking a chance a player that went to Europe?

Oscar Lindberg is the guy I'm thinking of.
