Description
I know trading for Byram doesn't make a ton of sense. Why trade a proven scorer for an unproven Defenseman (although he does have all the potential to become a top pairing), but who knows maybe the avalanche are intrigued by Konecny and NAK. Then adding Zamula as a player that has potential to become a good player also. The Flyers use it to open up cap for Meier, who would flourish in AV's system.

We keep Frost in this scenario and bring him up when he's ready.

Don’t really see the point of the Byram trade. We already have two good LD prospects in York and Zamula. They may not be Byram status but they still have a bright future. Konecny is too valuable to be moving.

I'm just really high on Byram and like the player. Think he'll be a top pairing defenseman and TK is really good, but I wanted to bring in Meier's contract because I like how he fits into AV's system. He'd flourish. It won't happen obviously as it doesn't make sense to roster build that way, but I was just having some fun because I love the player.

So for your top 6 forward you get a top prospect, but for ours we get your scraps. Sounds fair

Besides the fact he is going to be a stud, Byram’s contract to the Avs is equally important to the Avs because of big extensions on the horizon. Plus the trade doesn’t make sense for PHI either.

In terms of roster building in the actual NHL it absolutely makes zero sense, but I just like the player and was having some fun. Wasn't sure about the value. But like I said in the description above, Philly isn't going to get rid of a proven goal scorer for the chance at Byram and the AVs aren't going to trade Byram and that contract for anyone else unless its an elite talent. You're absolutely right about that contract being important to the AVs. I just love the player. Wish he was a flyer.

I mean really. The Meier trade wasn't the trade I expected all the heat for. I don't deny maybe another sweetener needs to be added, but Farabee makes sense as the major piece in a Meier trade. The Byram trade is the outlandish idea here. Farabee is a great prospect. Flyers fans are growing impatient with Rubtsov, but I think he'll be a great 3C at worst in the NHL. High Hockey IQ and a solid 2 way game, but his offense may not take off enough to be on the 2nd line. NHL teams will love him, all you hear from NHL sources is that he does the right things and plays the right way.

Like I said, I fully expected the Avs trade to get me some heat, because it defies the logic of roster building. The Flyers have no reason to trade their leading scorer for an un-proven prospect, I was just having some fun with that one because I love Byram's game.

SJ declines, no interest in moving Meier unless its for a package that SJ can't say no to.

Is he good? Yes, but he is not nearly as impressive as Byram is. Nor do I think he will be as good as Meier anytime soon, so this deal is a no go from us.
