The Boring but Effective Moves

Created by: Mr_Gardoki

Description
These moves are boring, but what I think are more realistic given the Pens situation and make them more competitive. People who think McCann isn't capable at 3C just haven't reviewed the facts and stats.

Tanev is exactly what that third line needs. Speed, grit and the ability to contribute offensively at times. Horn and McCann bring enough offense, but Tanev can make more room for them.

Two realities: JJ is not getting moved nor bough out and Hornqvist isn't getting moved.

Hey, it's not sexy, but it's practical and gives the Pens a stronger bottom six.

Well I mean like isn't ZAR and Simon > Pitlick and Ennis. (idk i don't watch the pens often)

Also you could probably get more than a 2nd for a 2 cup winning goalie

The value for Murray is still a big question mark right now because of the large goalie market.

Pitclik and Ennis offer more offensive production than Simon and ZAR combined, but my lineup still includes Simon. This gives the Pens a very good rotation.

But why trade Lafferty just to sign Pitlick and Ennis. If there is an open spot for Sam, and he isn't being moved all over the lineup, I'm sure he will have a great season. Also he would cost less than either of them

Pitlick and Ennis are better players. Don't get me wrong, I like Lafferty and his speed, and he's shown flashes of production, but Pitlik brings a physical element the Pens could use along with point production and Ennis is just a solid all around player with solid point production. Ennis put up 37 points last year and likely won't cost more than $1.5M.

I just think with the fact that Poulin will likely get ice time and with Lafferty only costing about $800-850, that the Pens are better off not signing two more expensive players.

You notice that I still left enough cap space for Poulin, right?

I see that, but with Ennis, Pitlick, Simon and ZAR where is Poulin going to get any ice time?

It's called having depth. If Poulin beats them out for a spot, they sit.
