Mid-September Mock Draft (please read the trades below)

Description
After the Rangers pick, the Penguins make this trade:

{Pittsburgh trades Matt Murray to Edmonton for Mike Smith, Adam Larsson, and Jesse Puljujarvi}

Murray will be traded. Jarry was the better goalie, so it would make more sense to trade Murray. The Penguins get an average starter or a solid backup in Mike Smith. They also upgrade their defense by acquiring Adam Larsson. Also, Puljujarvi doesn’t want to be in Edmonton, so he will fit in this trade and go to a legit playoff contender.

This trade between Winnipeg and Calgary will also happen after the Rangers pick:

{Winnipeg trades Patrik Laine to Calgary for Sean Monahan}

This may come to a surprise to some people, but there some rumors that Monahan could be traded because of season he had. Winnipeg finally gets the long-term second-line center that they have been looking since 2018. Calgary gets a goal-scorer in Patrik Laine. He has been getting progressively worse for Winnipeg.

{Buffalo trades pick No. 8 to Winnipeg for pick No. 10 and 2022 3rd round pick}

There are rumors that Buffalo trades their pick down. The Jets don’t have a 3rd or 4th round pick in this draft, so trading up would be ideal.

During the draft, Arizona will make this blockbuster trade with Winnipeg:

{Winnipeg trades Nikolaj Ehlers and Logan Stanley to Arizona for Oliver Ekman-Larsson}

There are rumors that both Ehlers and Ekman-Larsson will get traded. Jets fans are hoping that a similar deal will happen at some point. Thank me later. After stealing Drysdale, Winnipeg rounds out their depth with Ekman-Larsson. Arizona boosts their offense, which was lacking against Colorado in the playoffs. They also get a physical, offensive defenseman in Stanley.
ROUND 1TEAMORIGINALPLAYERDETAILS
1Logo of the New York Rangers-An absolute no-brainer. He can immediately slide into the Rangers top-six.
2Logo of the Los Angeles Kings-The Kings have a lot of center prospects, so they really don’t need another center in Byfield. Plus, the Kings have gained a lot of interest in Stutzle. I have heard rumors that they want to swap their pick with the Rangers to get LaFreniere. I would be surprised if that happens, but I don’t think it will.
3Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsLogo of the San Jose SharksWhy Rossi over Byfield? This will be a risk, but because Rossi plays in Ottawa, they will think that Rossi is a better fit. Plus, Rossi is currently more NHL-ready than Byfield, according to Craig Button. He listed off four players that are currently NHL-ready right now (Rossi, LaFreniere, Stutzle, and Lundell). But I would not be surprised if Ottawa drafts Byfield with this pick.
4Logo of the Detroit Red Wings-The Red Wings love taking risks, just as they did taking Seider last year. After Button said that Lundell may be NHL-ready right now, I have the feeling that Lundell will be selected in the top 5. For me, I don’t want Lundell selected in the top 5 but once again, the Red Wings showed that they are willing to take risks. What makes Lundell NHL-ready is his smarts and overall skill. He is projected as the best two-way forward in the draft, some people say. I would not be surprised if Detroit takes Byfield with this pick.
5Logo of the Ottawa Senators-The risk of taking Rossi first would pay off, as Byfield falls to No. 5. This will happen because of his readiness to play in the NHL is questionable. For a team like Ottawa, Byfield should play in the NHL and be a top-six center for them. Rossi and Byfield as Ottawa’s top-two centers would be dangerous in the future. A thing that sets Byfield apart from Rossi is the size (Byfield’s 6’4’’ compared to Rossi’s 5’9’’).
6Logo of the Anaheim Ducks-Holtz is the best goal-scorer in the draft. The Ducks have struggled scoring goals more than defending the puck for the past few seasons. Holtz can definitely change that. He isn’t a bad playmaker either. Plays similar to Patrik Laine.
7Logo of the New Jersey Devils-This may be a reach, but Askarov is a player that the Devils need. After Blackwood and Schneider, the Devils goaltending depth is thin. In a few seasons, Askarov can become the Devils starting goalie. Some scouts say that Askarov is the best goalie prospect since Price.
8Logo of the Buffalo Sabres-THIS IS THE JETS PICK!!! Getting a defenseman is crucial for the Jets. Their depth at defense was a problem for them all season long, especially in the series against Calgary. I do watch the Jets often because they live in Winnipeg. Some scouts say that they need a No. 2 center, but they will get that if they trade Laine for Monahan.
9Logo of the Minnesota Wild-With the trade involving Eric Staal, the Wild should get a center. Perfetti could also play on the wing. Also Koivu, who plays center is a UFA after this season.
10Logo of the Winnipeg Jets-THIS IS THE SABRES PICK!!! The Sabres are lucky that Raymond has fallen to them. Even though goaltending is their main issue, the Sabres are lacking some forward depth. Raymond can slide into the Sabres depth in a season or two.
11Logo of the Nashville Predators-The Predators have a deep defensive and offensive core, but they are struggling with the power play and penalty kill. Jarvis fills that mold. His offense has been a major improvement throughout the season.
12Logo of the Florida Panthers-There is potential that both Hoffman and Dadonov could go to free agency. Getting Quinn would add some insurance if the Panthers come to this scenario. Quinn is a underrated goal-scorer as he scored 50+ goals playing with Rossi.
13Logo of the Carolina HurricanesLogo of the Toronto Maple LeafsLike Quinn, Gunler is another underrated goal-scorer. Even after trading Edmondson, the Hurricanes still have a deep defensive core. They mostly need a secondary goal-scorer.
14Logo of the Edmonton Oilers-This may be a shock that Sanderson falls outside the top 10. He is currently the No. 2 defenseman in the draft. Larsson is a UFA after this season, and Sanderson can replace him after developing in college.
15Logo of the Toronto Maple LeafsLogo of the Pittsburgh PenguinsEveryone is saying that the Leafs take Schneider, but he didn’t have the potential to be taken in the top 10. Barron was a top 10 pick until the season paused, plus his draft ranking is somewhat better than Schneider’s.
16Logo of the Montreal Canadiens-
17Logo of the Chicago Blackhawks-
18Logo of the New Jersey DevilsLogo of the Arizona Coyotes
19Logo of the Calgary Flames-
20Logo of the New Jersey DevilsLogo of the Vancouver Canucks
21Logo of the Columbus Blue Jackets-
22Logo of the New York RangersLogo of the Carolina Hurricanes
23Logo of the Philadelphia Flyers-
24Logo of the Colorado Avalanche-
25Logo of the Washington Capitals-
26Logo of the St. Louis Blues-
27Logo of the Anaheim DucksLogo of the Boston Bruins
28Logo of the Ottawa SenatorsLogo of the New York Islanders
29Logo of the Vegas Golden Knights-
30Logo of the Dallas Stars-
31Logo of the San Jose SharksLogo of the Tampa Bay Lightning

Yeah Detroit's not taking Anton Lundell over Quinton Byfield that's not even remotely realistic.

Some of your trades aren't even plausible, First off JR isn't trading Matt Murray for Mike Smith+Adam Larsson and Jesse Puljujarvi that's a pretty meh return and Sean Monahan alone doesn't get you Patrik Laine not even close. Ehlers+Stanley for OEL not sure that even gets it done.

Jake Sanderson falls to #14? Drysdale at #8? Neither of these guys will make it out of top-7 picks. ANA and NJD would both take them.

The two guys most likely to drop out of top-10 are Rossi and Holtz.
