Not sure how Bergevin is valuing Danault, but he definitely should be worth a whole lot more than Buchnevich.

Can we simply do Domi for Buch... MTL would add a 3rd

I personally don't really want Domi. I will admit tho it'd be pretty funny to see Domi and Lemieux as teammates.

A high pick. 2nd or 1st. He is an unbelievable two way centre on a great contract. The only thing I hate about him is that he plays for the Habs but honestly probably should get a first somewhere. They have Tatar, Domi (if he stays) and Gallagher, all good options on the wing so adding a 2nd or 3rd line winger would have to be packaged with probably a conditional 1st.

Buchnevich and a 2nd is probably his value

Danault is a UFA after this year. They would need to have an extension in place for Buchnevich and 1st or 2nd.

not sure who Matthew Roberston is but as a blues fan I would move Dunn for just the 1st and 2nd.

Robertson was our 2nd rounder last year. Really promising LHD. It seems Blues fans are split on Dunn. I've had people tell me they'd rather keep Dunn than Pietrangelo.

I think I'm in that group - Dunn at 3m x 2 and then 6m x 6 through age 31 is much more palatable than Pietrangelo at 9m x 8 through age 38. There is a way to keep them both, but keeping Dunn over Petro could avoid tough decisions on future UFA extensions like Schwartz, Parayko, Binnington/starting goalie money, and RFAs like Thomas (and well, Dunn). The sky is the limit for Dunn right now when you look at our left side. If Faulk wasn't signed to his gaudy contract I'd probably have a different opinion.

As someone who's in the keep Dunn camp, how do you feel about my trade proposal?

with the disclaimer that i wouldn't do it, the value is pretty fair; but I don't like trying to project guys with questionable offensive skills like Robertson so I'd be looking for a different prospect personally. I think there are more guys with proven offense that can learn to defend once they see more quality in their competition (i.e. in the pro ranks) than there are guys the other way around... just an opinion though.

that's a lot for Dunn, would certainly be on the high side. Swap Robertson with Rykov and you're a bit closer. Rangers most likely want someone they can trust on the PK, and I'm not sure they can use Dunn there (remains to be seen with his heavily sheltered mins)

You can scrap the Danault deal all together. Buch has been worth almost double Danault in 600 less mins over the course of the last 2 seasons. Even with an extension the framework for any Buch trade for someone below that Nylander/Lindholm tier is going to be poor.

buch-danault

And you can get more than that for Strome...

Don't let the flock here trick you into underselling your assets.

Bit off topic but how long is it going to take the Rangers to become cap ****ed?? They have a ton of high end prospects and the highest paid winger in the league. This roster has 6 quality players all under $925K.

I 100% agree. Plus we have to pay Zibanejad in 2 years. I don’t think we’re having another big name acquisition and honestly we might not even need it. Danault for Buch makes sense tho

Getting Laffy was an unexpected surprise for sure. I’m wondering if one of the young guns will have to be moved after there ELC and if so who makes the most sense.

Idk but the Rangers have made it pretty clear that their core/untouchables is Zibanejad, Panarin, Fox, Kakko and now Laf
