Not even in the ballpark of fair value for Ottawa.

Probably should have spent a bit longer.

Why would BUF trade 8OA for a nearly 36 year old Fleury...?

Also, Preds pass.

i feel bad saying this because you spent a lot of time on this but this is not good...it's gonna take way more than that to move the needle on okposo...MAF isn't worth the 8OA pick...preds pass because risto has a negative value

I know its not great lmao, I was just bored. Okposo wouldn't surprise me if it needs more at all, with MAF, you are getting a guy who is a veteran and can at least split with Ullmark, meanwhile you also still get vegas 1st and some retention off on Fluery, Also on Risto, He doesn't have negative value tho his value to Nashville would certainly be less then to some other teams, I think Nashville needs a shakeup among there roster and idk if you payed attention, But Risto did a lot more this year than last year, and I mean ALOT, he may never really be amazing as a number 2 guy every night but as a top 4 he will be amazing.

Expected a lot of this. I look at it as Okposo is still serviceable and you get another defensive prospect (and 1st round pick player) back in return, However it could be out of value still

Simple, we need a guy who can take either starter time or split with Ullmark, Hutton is not that, Buffalo still gets a later 1st in return and retention of on Fluery for 2 years

As for the preds trade it wouldn't surprise me if the preds passed just based on defensive depth in there organization

Johnson is a former 1st round pick

However I think the sabres would be able to pay a Johnson + 2nd to get rid of that Okposo contract

The player selected 8OA would be much more important to the future of this BUF team than 2 years a 36 and 37 year old declining Fleury. With the huge goalie market this summer, I don't think BUF needs to give up such a valuable pick to get a 1A/B goalie to play with Ullmark. They could also sign a goalie in free agency and not give up any assets other than cap space.

And yeah, NSH just doesn't really need Risto - but it also complicates the expansion draft as they would likely want to protect Risto if they traded for him. And this would leave NSH with 5 defenseman that they would need to protect. It's more likely that they trade one of their top 4 than they trade for a defenseman that would require expansion draft protection.

Whether or not Okposo is still a serviceable 4th liner does not matter at all. He could be the best 4th liner in the world, nobody is taking him on that deal without substantial value coming back. Johnson is a former 1st rounder, but I don't think there's really much upside there beyond a bottom 4 defender.

If I'm Ottawa, I don't touch him if I'm not getting that 2020 1st.

Preds pass... we have no desire to acquire ristolainen. Especially at the cost of our 1/2C. I could see us acquiring a stop gap 2nd pairing LHD and trading Ekholm but this ain’t it
