Proven player > prospects every time

Especially if you’re Edmonton and running out of time.

Man, I really consider that as a Flyers fan... and its only because I think Frost can step into the 3c role. I dont like it, but i consider it.

I think that’s the better of the two deals. Similar cap hit between Dubnyk and JVR, need a backup goaltender to help out Hart especially what could be in a condensed schedule. Greenway can play either wing to make up for JVR and Frost takes Patrick’s spot

For Wild they get a top center prospect for a position they have significant strength in.

If JVR’s contract wasn’t so bloated, I would seriously consider that.

I'm iffy on these. In particular I don't like the Oilers trade. Those are good pieces but we don't need Bouchard, we have Addison in the system already and I like his game more. This just blocked him. Furthermore Soucy pairs well with Brodin with some great chemistry and he really did play his best hockey there this year.

Shattenkirk isn't needed either. Pateryn when healthy is a great defensive defenseman for our 3rd pairing. If he isn't, we have Belpedio whose ready to come up. Again, they're blocked by that signing.

The less said about what you did our center situation the better.

I'd also throw in Donato into that Philly deal to upgrade Patrick to Frost too. Patrick may have the higher ceiling but his health concerns me. Rather have Frost.

No offense but Ive got to address some of this lol. Pateryn is terrible and should be nowhere near your bottom pair unless you’re tanking. Bouchard is significantly better than Addison and farther ahead. You also misread the contracts, the Shattenkirk deal is just one year so unless Addison was playing this season (he wasn’t) then it’s not blocking him. Belpedio isn’t very good either so I don’t know why he would even be an option besides a 7D.. maybe.

This would give the Wild a core RHD of Spurgeon, Bouchard, Addison and then Brodin on that left side. That’s pretty damn good. Not to mention some good young players on offense and in net, I would take that in a heartbeat if I was in Wild’s position. Build for the future while not sacrificing the team right now.

I don’t think there is any possibility Frost is moved and it’s certainly not for anything the Wild would offer, besides Kaprizov

It’s only two more seasons and Wild can afford it. Greenway likely gets around $3 million, so Dubnyk/Greenway ($7 million) vs JVR/Patrick ($8-9 million) really is only like 1/2 million of a difference.

If philly moves on with Patrick I’d flip Greenway for him. I know it’s a high risk move but if he gets his medical situation under control this would be the steal of the century.
