Definitely not a 4C but he would be a top end 3C and a decent 2C. Lots of teams would play him as a 2c just based off need but on a deep team he's a 3C. Would be right around the money as a 3C and a cheap 2C.

Malkin would be a top end 3C what you mean ? Danault is a 2C and every 2C going 3C would be top end 3C

Malkin is a 1C who plays 2C because of who else plays center. The reason why danault is on the trade block is because Montreal wants to play him as a 3C. He's not down for that so he wants out. He would be a 3C on alot of teams. There are a few teams that need his services as a 2C but he's not top tier 2C but top tier 3C for sure. Especially at his contract value right now. In this scenario with the Oilers they are trading for him to play 3C, he would be better then pretty much anyone on the LW to play with McDavid too, still he would be ideal at 3C for Edmonton.

If Danault like you said want out of MTL because he doesn’t want to play 3C, why would he goes to EDM to play 3C ?

Does he have a NTC to stop a trade anywhere if he feels like he would be played as a 3C? Either way if EDM traded for him to play 3C I would imagine he would end up on the wing because of the lack of depth there. But he would be ideal as there 3C.

Marc Bergevin always trade is good players where they would like to go ( exemple Shaw, Kovalchuk ). He won’t trade Danault unless it’s a huge return he can’t decline, it’s just a tactic of negotiation, like Friedman reported today. The GMs around the league don’t think Bergevin shop Danault for real
