Description
Trade for Laine.. Key pieces would be Tatar and Domi, would give back some prospects they need, and two 2nd rounders. Gives WIN a proven left winger, plus a good third center that'll cost less than Laine in order to set-up future signings.. 27M$ left for signings next year. Danault, Harris and a couple of round picks, for 9th overall and Eriksson Ek. Then Lehkonen with picks for 3rd pick. Sign Kovalchuck, Brassard, Soucy and Hoffman! Gives us good depth, a returning fav that seemed to have something already in the works to come back, and another good Dman to give time for Mete to bring back his game.

Eriksson Ek is untouchable. They've got no one left apart from him. And MIN doesn't need more D prospects IMO. They've got a few decent ones. I'd do Danault for the 9th OAP + other later picks.

Not unreasonable. I'd remove Eriksson for pick in the next year and the one after also. The deal here would be to trade out Danault. With his comments.. Not sure the head brass are happy with him. Tell it to their face and they'll trade you out on good terms, not the the reporters.. Especially not in MTL.

Not all one way.

Winnipeg, Laine may sign elsewhere next year since he'll want a raise. They currently have 4 forwards over the 6M$ mark.. Wheeler, Connor, Scheifele, Ehlers. They will need to secure the 3rd center spot with someone that can come up to the wing or even get to the stop 2 lines if someone gets injured and around the 5M$ mark. So Domi does fit that mark. Not to mention that they'll need to give some money to the D line at some point. Laine will just gobble that up.

Tatar is only for one year in order to build up a prospect or even trade him again to another team for a pick or prospect they need.

Colorado brings in a good winger plus two picks for a third pick which doesn't cost much for them and he's not a big hit on their salary cap, and would not hit the 3M$ next year either. So he'd be good for them. I'd move out Byron, but his contract is way to expensive for what he brings back.

Min trade would bring in a young player for MTL; but I'd accept to remove him and just keep the 1st versus 3rd and 4th round pick for next year and the year after, for Danault. He'd replace Koivu who cost them voer 5M$ last year and is reallllly slowing down.. So don't bring him back and get a new younger Center who has been leading in faceoffs and puts up good points.

The Lehkonen trade is awful for the Habs. You're giving away a very serviceable NHLer and 2 picks to move from early 4th to late 3rd. It's ridiculous.

Flip Domi and Danault and take out the MIN #1 and you'd probably have deals, but I'd rather keep Domi and Harris than take Ericsson Ek. There are easier ways to save cap.

I’m flattered!!

I don’t like the trade for the Wild! If you’re not already aware, i have a strong affinity for Ek’s game, talent, and potential. I sincerely believe he will be every bit as good as Danault in a year or two...and i really like Danault. Most of my fellow Wild fans here probably think im crazy, but I would play Ek between Fiala and Kaprizov. I think he’s the perfect center for those two. He’s big. Fast. An insanely good forechecker. A great defender. A blossoming agitator. And a completely underrated passer. The only real fault he has is his inability to finish, but finishing would not be his job playing between those two.

Anyway, I don’t know if you were interested in all that but yeah, Im a big fan of Joel Ericksson Ek!!

Yeah I thought this was terrible for Minnesota even if Danault would extend with the Wild, just didn't feel like debating with a Habs fan.. Lol

Danault for the 9th overall straight up , Habs would probably do that

I think they would also but I feel like MTL has a little extra leverage. There's a few teams looking for a 2C. They can probably milk it a bit.
