I also think Puljujarvi is going to be good, and he has a chance to. That’s why I wouldn’t do it. This guy is just pulling out insults because he doesn’t know what else to say.

Not really. He’s a very good prospect, and I think he has high potential.

MTL shouldn't do that. Domi's a good TOP6 forward...Pulju is a bit of a question mark, and AA might be had for a same kind of deal like Edmundson got if EDM isn't re-signing the guy. And their current cap issues suggests that that might be the case.

Jp is barely barely a prospect lmfao, his potential has been lowered greatly by his handling and development in EDM

You could get way more for Domi, if I was offering

2020 1st 8 (earliest and best case scenario)-18 value wise
A prospect (fit accordingly, lower prospect value if a higher pick value)
A 3rd liner probably.

AA cost a second and JP has to prove he’s a valuable, he has lost his value
For example:

EDM
14th Overall 2020
Maybe like Samurkov or whatever his name is, pretty good D prospect, not close to Broberg or Bouchard but a great kid with potential
And like idk a good player EDM could part with, nothing crazy as first two assets are solid

That’s fair to me for domi

At this point Domi is the best player of the three, and quite likely will remain better than AA or JP. That makes it really difficult to say no. However, Domi tends to want to carry the puck, and he is still prone to significant defensive lapses so he may not be a good fit in the Oiler top-6. I'm not confident he'd have much success as Edmonton's 3C either. Additionally, Edmonton is already hard pressed to fit AA under the salary cap next season, and Domi is likely to command a bigger salary than Athanasiou.

It would be much easier for Edmonton to do this trade if some salary goes to Montreal. Perhaps RFA rights to Domi + Montreal's 2020 3rd round pick for Alex Chiasson and RFA rights to AA and JP. That gives Edmonton a much needed draft pick, and a bit of cap space to sign the more expensive Domi, and the Habs get the RFA rights you want, plus a useful veteran forward on an expiring contract. Not saying I'd do that trade, just that it kind of reflects the fact that Edmonton needs to shed salary in order to bring in tallent like Domi.

MTL is losing big time in this trade. Apparantly, the Oilers won’t even qualify AA.

It’s crazy if they don’t . AA isn’t a perfect player but man he has speed and scoring touch.. he won’t be the first to get lost in Edm ...

The concern about resigning AA has far more to do with the impact on limited cap space than whether or not the team wants him back. Edmonton has around $9M in cap space and a number of gaps in the roster that need upgrades over last season. Qualifying Athanasiou requires a minimum offer of $3M, and allows him to take the team to arbitration. If an arbiter awards him a larger salary Edmonton is seriously hooped. Aebitrators are not supposed to take into consideration the the team's finances or cap situation. Only out of an arbiters ruling cones if the player is awarded $4.6M or more. Media has picked up on this and speculated that the absence of news about qualifying offers must mean the Oilers are concerned. Of course only the player, his agent, and team menagement know the real story.

I personally wouldn't do the deal because there's too much "boom or bust" potential, Montreal's looking to be competitive in a year and making this move could push them back a couple years if it busts out. If Domi's dealt it'll be a hockey trade 'à la' Seth Jones/Johansen trade where both teams get a quality player at the expense of a deep roster position (Montreal has centers but misses that top line scoring winger).

Jesse hasn't hit 20 goals in his 139 career NHL game and doesn't want to play for your team (I don't stick to the "I could come back" rumour and think it's mainly a PR stunt from his clan to regain interested from other GMs), what makes him a "very good prospect with high potential"?

Interesting take! It's true that cap isn't infinite and the arbitration will look at comparable players not comparable cap situations. They have to sign Bear this fall and need to keep some money aside for Kailer cause if he's keeping the same pace he's en route for a huge raise.
