Lots of moves

Description
Team only loses one 1st and one 2nd over the next 3 years, which is important as they need player on ECL’s in the next 3-6 years.

Trades:

TOR, saw this same trade posted by TOR fan, works for VAN, feel like its fair value.

NYI and Buff trades add youth and talent to a a RD side that needs improvement. I see lots of Virtanen for Montour trades, Virtanen is worth a second so I figure a second and a decent prospect like Juolevi get it done. Personally I would rather make the Boeser trade to Carolina for Pesce as I think he would be a better fit with Hughes and comes in about a million cheaper, but I proposed that a few days ago so figured I would change it up!

Myers can go to any team. Have to give up a first which hurts as Myers is good bottom pair RD with some nice intangibles, however contract length and dollars cost a first to trade. JB would likely not do this deal as he just signed him to the controversial contract last year.

TB has to shed salary, second seems fair considering circumstances. VAN is able to help replace the lose of Boeser here and still maintain a good top 6, even if Killorn is not a 1st line winger.

Roussel dump is to any team. May have to change the 3rd to a 2nd. Gadjovich is a former second rounder who could be a tough bottom 6 player with some limited offensive upside. Roussel still has NHL ability but is a salary needs to be shed so VAN has to add

I think this is a playoff team and one that will be better than last season. I think the D is better, which was a weak point for the team last year, and the 3rd line should be improved with a healthy Levio and improvement from Gaudette. Core should also improve with another year under their belt.

I believe Cap Friendly incorporates the overage into the financial equation when it says there is cap space remaining, if not a change would need to be made.

Podkolzin's still on his KHL deal until '22.
As for the Myers deal, why don't you just switch him with Eriksson? Same cap hit, might have to add, but Myers is still a decent top 6 dman. You can save money there by just keeping him and trading or releasing Troy Stetcher.

VAN is not moving Boeser. Also VAN is not moving Demko unless Markstrom is re-signed but that is not certain either. The Canucks would like to go into next season with both Markstrom and Demko.

Did Podkolzin extend recently? He contract was up at the end of this KHL season, reports on VAN radio was he is likely to sign at the end of it and join VAN near the end of the year. Maybe his contract status has changed recently.

I agree Myers is a decent bottom pair and currently more valuable to the team than Eriksson, it’s looking at the long term picture here. If I’m giving up an1st to dump it’s for Myers, he carries the cap hit for 4 years Eriksson only 2, they could use that large cap to hit to improve a defence that needs work.
Also I think Eriksson will be much easier to move next year when he’s only got 1 year remaining and owed almost no real money. I’m hearing lots of reports that multiple teams will try and be at the cap floor because of the financial pinch. If Eriksson is owed little real dollars but has a higher cap hit, I think there are teams that would take him for a low cost NEXT year, so why give a 1st plus to move him this year? Seems like bad asset management, get rid of the 6million X 4 years #5 D man that’s not going to improve but may regress.
Also based on the price difference I would rather have Stecher as my bottom pair RD. Myers intangibles may be better (although Stecher is a good leader), but there both decent #5’s that can fill in on the middle pair, difference being Stecher is younger and likely won’t regress, plus he could be signed for less than half the cost.

I know I know (and so does everyone else on capfriendly), you don’t want VAN to move Boeser, still saying Virtanen too?
Thing is Boeser is their best trade chip and they desperately need to improve their defence, especially the right side.
I like Boeser as well, he’s a good player, he’s not elite and as a result he’s expendable.

Pulock is a #1? Haven’t seen a ton of him, thought he was more of a 2-3 guy. If he’s a legit #1 than it doesn’t matter if Dobson is ready or not, Boeser is not worth a young established #1, especially a RD.

Trades a flyer?
Trades not centred around Oli, it’s the 2nd. Seems most fans agree a Virtanen for Montour trade is fair. Virtanen is worth a 2nd, add Oli and it’s likely better value for BUF than a straight up trade for Virtanen.

A flyer is to take a chance on a player, not the hockey team. Sabres would want Virtanen, yes, theirs a reason for that. Virtanen straight up is an infinitely better deal for Buffalo. A 2nd could be 3 years away from being a roster player let alone impactful, and Juolevi would instantly be 3rd pair in the A. The Sabres have good d prospects and if they want another one Sanderson is probably waiting for them at 8 in the draft, making Juolevi even more of an also-ran

Substitute the word “deal” with “fit” and I agree with that statement.
I don’t know how much of Virtanen you’ve watched, I’ve watched a fair amount, I would definitely not describe him as an impact player, at least not in 75 of the 82 games a year. Better fit though, I agree with that.
Good to hear from other teams fans, I think value is fair but if the trade doesn’t work, I respect that.

The sabres absolutely lack physicality through their forward group so if hes putting up 50 points and leading forwards in hits, it will be an impact on the team. I would also prefer to have him with Cozens and teach that kid how to use his body as well

Expecting 50 points might leave you disappointed. Not saying he won’t get there but he hasn't hit 40 in his 5 years, he’s now 24. He may have just hit 40 if not for the stoppage in what has so far been a career year for him.

He CAN play physical but just like the rest of his play he’s inconsistent. VAN was expecting much more physically from him and VAN radio has talked many times about how Jake doesn’t have the mindset of a tough player. I don’t think he would teach your young guys much, well maybe how to turn up to camp out of shape or how to shotgun some beers.

With all that said I think he’s a decent 3rd liner, who likely puts up between 15-20 goals and 35-45 points, while bringing some intangibles, speed, size and at times grit.

Isles say no, but we'd love Brock Boeser somehow.
