Description
I am entitled to a sadboi post with some wishful thinking.

I think the Isles should really go for it next year, and now that we have proven we're true Cup Contenders this year, Taylor Hall would take a 2 year contract with us while we all wait out the flat cap. I think the opportunity to play with one of the league's premier playmakers in Mat Barzal and his old friend Jordan Eberle on the same line could provide some real temptation to Hall. Hall ain't perfect, but I still think he has another great season left in him. It wasn't long ago that Hall put the entire state of New Jersey on his back and carried it to the playoffs and an Art Ross Trophy. I'd like to think he can do it again, but this time, with another great talent to help him with the load.

Down the line up, there's no way I break up that playoff 2nd line we had. It was just magic, and I want to see if we can replicate it next year. As for the 3rd line, tell me that wouldn't be a real threat to any defense. Lee only ends up down here because we added Hall and the 2nd line was too good to break up. Pageau has the speed and creativity to create for Lee just like Barzal created for Lee. And we'll finally get to see Wahlstrom next year, accompanied this time by some actual scoring forwards. This offense has the pop we've been looking for. Each line would have at least two possible 20 goal scorers with every guy on it capable of adhering to the Trotz system.

Disappointing end to the season. That said, there's only one way to end the season without disappointment. We'll get there soon, we're just one addition away. 'Til then, thanks Isles. It's been a rough year, and I needed something to smile about.

Trotz talking up leddy after the game increased his value to a 1st rd pick.

Not sure if hall would take that deal, but maybe the eberle factor gets him to LI.

My logic on the Hall deal is that he won’t get his long term contract this year, so he might as well take a short term deal with a team that he can win with while still playing on the top line. Right now, that’s the Isles. And if he’s playing next to Barzy, that’ll help him score enough to impress whoever signs that 7 year deal for Hall in 2 years.

You know I don’t disagree with you. It actually makes a ton of sense for him

It's probably not out of the question if they can clear some of the bad contracts. Might make sense for both sides to go only one year though; Isles Beau, Pelech & Ciziaks to re-sign after this year. Get paid for a year or two, rack up some points on Barzal's wing to drive up his value, and get another crack at UFA when he's still relatively young.

They will, but I think we can compete with their offer. We’re a more complete team than Colorado and this year’s playoffs showed it. And Colorado doesn’t need more offense, they need a goaltender. My hope is they decide their cap space is better spent on a goaltender or a defensive upgrade.
