Boggles my mind that people send Bellows and a 1st to get Parise....

I agree. Bellows is not an NHL caliber player.

The trade is basically a productive player (Parise) for a 1st, an AHLer, and $8.5 million in dead cap space for the next 3 years and $3 million for 2 after that. I don't see any reason why Guerin would even consider this for a second. That would be a great way to guarantee that we can't re-sign Fiala and Kaprizov next year.

If parise goes to the islanders it’ll be a huge package that offsets cap space but the islanders get better players back. Like the islanders would get parise and dumba, but the wild would get Ladd, greiss and a center. The islanders dump Ladd and get to use that cap space for productive players. But the wild would want barzal or Brock as part of the deal, which I doubt they’d get.

Even without a Parise trade, the Isles lineup would still improve. The 3rd line would essentially be either Lee-Pageau-Wahlstrom or Wahlstrom-Pageau-Eberle. Just one acquisition in our Top 6 would have cascading effects down the roster that’s put us over the top.
