Then he’ll go to a team with a more friendly tax rate, aka south of the border.

Wish with bigger trades like Columbus one would be broken down into 2-3 trades just to show how came up to the value going each way. Retaining money just further complicates it. Very hard to fairly evaluate it as an idea presented like this.

Or he will go to a team that can pay him massive signing bonuses up front cause his agents and financial team understand that the future value of money far out weighs the year to year tax relief from being in the US.

How in the world do you plan on re-signing Josh Anderson.

Two things that Toronto has going for it with the star players is the endorsement deals available which has run $2 mil +/- a year and those tax breaks in the States are only for home games.

The endorsement stuff is a bunch of junk. Might make a difference for the fourth liners that can get a spot for a local car dealership, but it doesn’t mean crap for the big guys. Remember when you all thought stamkos was signing in toronto for 10.5 and then he signed for 8.5 in tampa?

You honestly think that Alex Pietrangelo is taking a 6 x $8.5 deal in Toronto? He can get 7 x $8m from St Louis and take home far more. Pietrangelo isn't signing anywhere for less then 7 x $9m pretty much guarantee you that.

For CBJ, I’m inclined to like the two first rounders, but not sure we care to take on Freddy’s cap hit, and I’m generally underwhelmed by Kerfoot. Dermott is more or less not needed here, as I think we are pretty set on D with what we have.

That being said, I guess we could flip them to another team..mayhaps throw a few 1st Rds, Dermott’s rights, and a little more to WPG for Ehlers or something?

I think Jarmo would do this if it is after Toronto pays out the signing bonus for Kerfoot and Anderson. That makes make Anderson's actual salary 1 mil and Kerfoot becomes 2.5 mil next season. Easily could flip Anderson to a team like Arizona that does not want to spend any actual money.

Hell, he won't even take the 1x1 as offered here; his QO is $2.1M
