It hurts to lose Kaut's ELC but I love that trade for the Avs. Thats an all-in cup run move

Its mostly a cap dump move for VGK but it allows them to sign Petro. It puts pressure on Glass to step into a top 6 role but moving 1 year of Stastny for cost controlled player in Compher is a solid long term move and he fits the teams identity pretty well. I don't think a lot of people know about Kaut but I think he would be a really smart cap efficient move with big time upside. Also we had some wings have rougher playoffs so it hurts to move them but Tuch is good enough to get in the top 6. Rather have depth on D than on wings

Also Stasnty started in Colorado so I thought that was a fun re-match

Avs and Devils definitely accept. I don’t know if Pens want to give up young DeSmith for 35 year old Fleury though.

Its just been one of those rumors forever that PIt might be open to brining him back. Giving up a 1st and he is still good enough where he should be able to go somewhere and back up goalie replacements should be easily had in UFA or other sources. Its a lil crazy but very plausible imo

Everyone of these trades are bad. Colorado is the only one close but that Pittsburgh trade is awful

Yikes. Not good moves.

You don't have a good understanding of Vegas' prospect pool or the value of their roster players like McNabb and Marchessault..

The only purpose is to move MAF. If you could do it better then that would be ideal but I personally like to be overly safe with trades, too many people make one sided favorable moves, but if I can make moves that are less than ideal and still have it work I think its more likely, as if you can do better then thats just a win.

I would be open to more debate on the matter, however until you provide more detail there is no reason for me to not assume that you are the one who has the worse understanding. If you feel you are right in areas and I am wrong then clearly state why and it will be obvious that is the case. If you say nothing other than "you don't like it" there is nothing in that for me to value in terms of an opinion.

This deal overview doesn't have a lot to do with the prospects at all so I don't see how that comment it too relevant. While you could possibly get more value else where, it would have to be just as little cap space coming back and it would have to be for pieces that help you win now, as the ultimate priority here is to get both Petro and Lehner locked down long term. This design uses area's of excess to address and accomplish that.

I am definitely open to alternative ideas and more in depth conversation.

In regards to Mcnabb, you could also move out Holden and not sign Maroon. I personally like Holden as a 3rd pairing guy, got some depth and his contract is cheaper in a post where moving out cap was a big deal. You could very likely get some more value for him, but edging out value on guys like him was not the main focus of this post.

They don't need a deck shuffle they need cap for Pietrangelo in this scenario. That would free up cap and term, which could be replaced by ELC players or low cost young guys like Roy. Glass/Karlsson/Krebs/Roy are the future down the middle IMO. Compher takes up that spot, much like he's taking up a spot that Colorado would like to vacate. Right now Stastny is that 1 year stop gap for them, he just makes too much money.

Selling extremely low on Mcnabb makes no sense. His value should be at it's peak considering he plays a lot of hard minutes for 2.5m.

Marchessault doesn't need to be included in a package deal when he can be moved for picks & prospects.

VGK is a win now team. Moving away quality assets for futures is strictly worse than my proposal imo. The long term should be considered, which this deal is, with VGK getting younger and not moving away any of the future kids. The "future" you talk about is all still there and possible. It just doesn't sacrifice anything in the short term to rush there.

Compher not only helps make up for the production loss of Stastny immediately but can play wing as well. This allows VGK to not only not have to rush or rely on prospects like Krebs to make an immediate impact but also should he be ready it is very common to start off young players on the wing to get used to the pacing of the NHL.

I am open to the idea that McNabb could return more, as I said above it just really isn't the point of all of this. As long as cap space doesn't come back or you get an asset to add to the depth instead of Maroon I am all for it.

Finally I had to move out a total of about 14m in cap space to make the 2 UFA signings work, which wont be easy in this climate. I am open to alternative moves that accomplish the same goal should you have different preferences.

These moves make VGK better today, younger, more balanced, and set up well for the future. I see no way in which these moves don't make the team better and none of them are wildly biased in VGK's favor or unreasonable.
