Carlo attempt number three cuz I am obsessive

Description
Last one... Okay maybe not but I'll try.

Does Boston still say no? This is an overpay for Colorado, but they have some assets to spare and don't necessarily need to win every trade. Happy to swap in Zadorov for Graves but just had to pick one.

The Avs can obviously go another direction at 3C and/or try for Hall instead of Killorn, etc. Carlo really solidifies the top four in the short and long term though.

Crazy overpay for someone who was mediocre in the playoffs. Best bet is to keep those assets and either use them or move them in separate deals

I get the idea that Carlo would be a good fit for Col. However I don't think the team has what Bos is looking for, nor do I really think they are moving him now that both Krug and soon to be Chara will be leaving. If they choose to REALLY blow it up after next season maybe you will have a better chance then, but even so.

I'll give you credit for at least heavily overpaying to get him but at that point the opportunity cost makes it not worth it for Colorado.

Finally Killorn wont cost that much.

Overpay on both trades.

Carlo is good but not great.

I'm not sure why he should cost a top prospect plus graves let alone plus Compher

Killorn likely doesn't cost quite that much or just about that much in a normal situation.

In the cap crunch col is in, the third alone, maybe less is likely enough

The fact that the Avs wouldn't be willing to part with a guy like Burakovsky is why this is a struggle. I'm still trying though. Boston can flip one of Timmins or Graves or get another team involved to make it work maybe.

What do you think Killorn costs? I actually agree but sometimes it's worth throwing that extra piece in to avoid an onslaught of "no" or "Bolts say no" comments, lol.

Wow this is a tough one TBH. If Graves was swapped to Zadarov that would be a tough one to say no to. Not sure where Compher would slot into the line-up (3LW would be my guess). The defense though...

Zadorov - McAvoy
Grz - Timmins
Zboril - Lauzon

^Not a terrible d-group for Boston going into next year. Obviously Timmins is a question mark as he has only 2 NHL games

I think sometimes you just don't have the pieces. Like that is a team that would be a perfect fit for a guy like Ehlers but same deal. Just hockey.

Also I get the approach of being heavy handed just in case. That Killorn contract is a pretty solid commitment in both cap hit and term, to where there will be some competition but not too much. The whole point of even getting Killorn for most teams is that he wont cost much in asset return. Hell knowing TBL and wanting to win now maybe even a 1 for 1 for Jost would do it as he is a solid bottom 6 player and will be hella cheap

They need an eventual EJ replacement to play with Girard and he would be a perfect fit in that regard. I would respect if some people want that to be Timmins but ultimately I don't think that will be the case.

The issue here is more they don't have what Bos would be looking for.

I think Timmons will be that personally. They should stand Pat

I mean there is some cleverness in the deal should BOS do that. Given the trends it would not shock me at all if in even as early as next year Timmins has more value than Carlo. Still doubt they move him before the one last run next season

They have very little reason not to see as his value is at its likely lowest point right now and should go up once he has strong showings in the NHL.

I think its massively unlikely that it works out like fans are optimistic about and I am all but certain he is eventually traded but there isn't much reason not to try, that is unless you could get a Carlo.

I actually think Colorado would rather swap in Zadorov. Graves seems to have Bednar's trust more and has chemistry with Makar.

In the end I think Sakic goes with a guy like Hjalmarsson over a big trade like this anyway, but it's worth thinking about. Carlo is also from Colorado, which doesn't matter but doesn't hurt either.
