Too much for Virtanen given the GM publicly trashed him in the media. The COL 2nd is as far as I'd go for Virtanen.

I hope you're right... Really do. I'd love to get Shotgun Jake on the Sharks for as little as possible.

I have a feeling VAN's still gonna sell high or not at all.

You're right Benning did kind trash him but mostly because he could be a really good player. The intangibles are elite. It's not really that we want him out.

Feels like they're going to have to make a Virtanen or Toffoli decision both positionally and due to cap space (i.e. if Toffoli is back can't see them paying $2.5 mil for a 4th line player).

If the org is going to publicly beat him down, I can't imagine he is going to be the priority when it comes to roster fit and contract negotiations. Just can't see someone who has broke 30 points just once in their career is going to fetch a big package after the GM comments and being relegated to 4th line duties. As good as the physical skills are, just hard to see them fetching a huge package for a very risky player, albeit one with a high ceiling.

That said, I do like the fit with the Sharks a lot to play in the middle 6.

Rangers buy him out, and he signs somewhere else scenario I'm guessing.

Maybe they try to sell high, nobody takes, it gets down to the wire where they either qualify him or he turns UFA, then they sell cheap before he walks for free. But, if they want a 2020 pick, they're gonna have to make up their mind asap.

I really like Jake because we have such a good system for rehabing attitudes. That, and there's no way he acts the fool in a room with Jumbo, Patty, Burnzie, Cooch, Pickles, EK65, etc... Lundqvist??

Why does everyone trade Sorensen? Without Goodrow he is by far our best PK guy and he is a solid bottom 6 and he is a spark plug. We lost Goodrow and fingers crossed milkman is gone or if back it’s for leauge min he is needed here.

Virtanen will have strong arbitration case after his 18 goal season, so he can get at least 2.75-3 mill.

Because he's got one year left so he's a good candidate for a cheap rental offering, and Kellman can replace his contributions. We should probably try to collect as many picks as possible if we're in a low-key re-tool/refresh.

I think they were referring to what I traded to get him, but yes, you're right nonetheless, which is why I paid him what I did.

Kellman isn’t the same type of player, Handemark is a closer match I just hate losing guys like Sorensen he is so valuable to a playoff team! Just look what Goodrow is doing and those guys are very similar.

I know, I like Scorensen too! But, we need to move out cap and get value where we can.
Virtanen brings youth and sandpaper with a lot of scoring upside, Noesen is another thoroughly underrated player, Kellman is a very defensive forward, and the top-6 is confidently boosted by Smith's playmaking abilities.

Because he was the worst regular forward on the team this season and can be replaced by any number of Gregor, Leonard, Kellman, Marleau, etc. for half the cost. Ever since Game 1 of the Colorado series in 2019 he’s fallen off a cliff. Biggest reason for Labanc’s counting stats sucking while his underlying stats were fantastic is being saddled to Sorensen.

Hate to say it, because he's one of ours, but it's true. unsure
