Overpaying Demko and Virtanen much? Demko at most might get a 2nd+3rd round pick Virtanen a 3rd rounder perhaps major overpayment here.

I like it. Demko would be a great, cheap option in net.

Ya, its a small overpayment. I'd take out Johnsson and trade him somewhere else for a 3rd.

Goal was to overpay this way every other person on this site wouldn't complain about that trade. Ill try to balance it a bit right now.

If 1st becomes a 2nd value becomes pretty close

it might be an over pay but that is the only way Van moves him at this point is if they get an offer they can refuse.
has to go this way

How does the trade look right now? Not sure if that first was necessary. 2nd 3rd SDA and Johnsson was prob enough

Yeah but you don't overpay for a guy that only has 41 NHL career games under his belt. Yeah he looked phenomenal against Vegas in 3 games but still. He's going to be good someday and Virtanen is merely a 3rd liner just way too much for both.

Virtanen is still young, much more room to grow and he is coming off his career-high in goals, assists, and points. I think Demko has shown improvement as well and he can split with Campbell making his role as a starter in his first season less taxing. I think the value now is pretty close

Canucks decline, Virtanen is a worth a 2nd so trading Demko for a meh prospect, 3rd rounder, and a 3rd line winger they don't need isn't worth it

I might roll out the rest of the team a bit differently, but I do love the trade, if VAN is willing, which would only be of consideration if they resign Markstrom long term (as Demko would be lost in expansion draft)

I think that offer to the Canucks is laughable TBH.

If I am the Canucks, no chance in hell I make that deal.

Brutal.

Johnsson is a great fit on their third line to play with Pearson and Gaudette definitely upgrading from Sutter. Der-Arguchintsev have a great year in the OHL this year and could probably make the lineup 2021 season. He is a good prospect

Do you know what a hyperbole is?

Whether you try to or not, you do a fantastic job in utilizing that literary device on every person's post

We have Macewen or Hoglander we don't need someone making 3.5mil on our 3rd line.If you want Demko either take Eriksson or give us Pittsburgh's 1st simple as that

Honestly, I am shocked by this. I agree, I am not sure i'd call it a major overpay but it's somewhat needless. While I wouldn't mind Demko because I think him and Campbell would be a good tandem, I think Virtanen is a waste of time. Not sure he'd even make the team. Johnsson and maybe a 3rd for Demko would he a good move for TO and could make sense if Tofolli moves on.

Literally any trade involving the Leafs will result in people complaining about how much it favours the Leafs. You could trade Matthews for Henrique and someone will say TO adds because Matthews makes over 10 million. It doesn't matter if you overpay or not, idiots will troll.

Exactly. No matter what it may be, as long as it involves the Leafs, every player is "overrated" and every trade is 'way too one-sided'.

That is foolish, his 3 games won't make him super sought after. It has increased his value a little no doubt but temper your expectations. DiPietro is going to be better and is your future. If you resign Markstrom, Demko will get moved and if Tofolli moves on, getting Johnsson to take his spot is a wise plan. I think he'd do well with Petterson or Horvat and has term at a good price. Throw in a pick to balance it out a little and it's a good hockey move. Demko would be given a tandem role with Campbell and Andersen would be moved.

Virtanen is barely worth his QO. He's been a disappointment since he was drafted. He couldn't crack your top 6 when Leivo was his competition.

This is why the post was an overpay, crazy people come in like that dude and think Vancouver somehow declines this gift horse. It's hilarious reading these dumb comments on trades that are either fair value or skewed away from the Leafs, "oh pffffffft [insert team Leafs are trading to here] laughs and hangs up the phone and never returns a call from the Maple Leafs again. How horrible!!" I'm so sick of it lol

Yep. It's pretty pathetic. I get the counter argument that some Leaf fans post wild trades because they do happen. But literally EVERY trade that people post about the Leafs is just flamed. There was a thread yesterday where someone actually laughed at someone proposing Sam Bennett for Kerfoot, a 4th AND a 2nd. Bennett who scored the same number of points than Frederik friggen Gauthier this season is worth MORE than Kerfoot, a 4th and an 2nd. It's getting ridiculous.
