Description
Gotta fight for that 8th seed each year!

-Flames fans will say they aren't trading Monahan since he's their 1C. If he could be available maybe a deal like this gets it done? I tossed Gawdin in for fun as an intriguing prospect. Of the names I hear Wild fans floating he seems to be the only one that's a true centre not a wing who can play up the middle.
-Keep seeing Strome coming up in trade and reading he's moveable, maybe reuniting Greenway with Quinn would be a win win for both teams. Not sure NYR's need for a big winger.
-Trade Dubnyk anywhere or buy him out.
-Sign a cheap Goalie to split time with Stalock and give Kaapo another year in the AHL and protect Kaapo from the Kraken.

Personally I’m not exactly sure on a dumba or Sean m swap value wise...but I do think they could be a match, although Calgary would lose Center depth so I’m not sure realistically if it’s a good move for them in general

It would start with Dumba and Kunin. There would be lots of interest in Monahan. There’s not really any good C available in free agency. Also probably need to include 9th and the Flames include 19th. The Flames love Gawdin, he will fill Derek Ryan’s role very soon

I'm not sure they'd trade Kunin, he's pretty much the only promising right shot forward (Hartman/Bjugstad). From what I've read Gawdin sounds like he could develop into a nice middle 6C, so I can see why the Flames would love him.

Not sure that gets Monahan...but fills need for both sides, so who knows.

Personally, if I were Bill Guerin, I'd be all over LAK for one of their young centers.

I really see you guys starting kaapo next year with Dubnyk as his mentor in his final season,
TBH I See you guys trading Stalock who has value because of his play an that contract and the fact at 32 he’s not in your future plans. Dubnyk this offseason is an albatross because of the stagnant cap, I don’t see anyone picking him up without something else added and to me thats crazy cause I think he has something positive to offer to your team.

At just over $2M, Dubnyk would be a good addition, especially if Detroit moves up 2 rounds. If we retain again at the deadline he’s about $1M for a team wanting a 2/3 goalie in the playoffs - in a flat cap world there’s gotta be a few interested teams if/when injuries strike. Good trade!

Rangers might accept. Depends who they can find to replace Strome.

If the Kings were willing to part with some of those young centres I would hope BG listens. Do the Kings have a need at RD?

Dubnyk had a lot going on last season so he could be a huge bounce back candidate. I personally wouldn't want to force Kaapo into a role where he plays a split time or backup role at the NHL level. Him as a starter for one more year in the AHL could do well for his confidence/technique and set him up to be a starter in the NHL if all goes well for him. We'll see if he can develop into a NHL goalie.

The Wild have the perfect replacement for you! He's only 27! He's got size at 6'2" He is well rested! He TWICE scored 40+ pts! He can be the on the Rangers for 2 years at the low low price of 4-2 million/season!

I fully agree with you Dubnyk should bounce back making Kaapo a backup and give him a taste of the NHL and he was the best AHL goalie last year so I see him as ready.

Stalock would be smart to keep since you have to expose a goalie next year to Seattle. And if he stays you can use him as a 1B for Dubnyk next season and then Kaapo the season after.
So I’m really torn on the right move for you guys. I honestly don’t think there is a right or wrong answer for this one but it’s a good problem to have! 3 capable guys for 2 spots!
