What the Jets should be doing

Created by: RFS_90
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 18, 2020
Published: Sep. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Don't trade Laine or Ehlers.... You cannot win a trade including either of them. Do Jets fans not remember Selanne for Kilger and Teverdovsky? It's a stupid theory... When you have world class talent, you make it work... build around it.

2) A 2C for Connor and Wheeler... Those are your real 2nd line forwards, find a C that works for them.

3) Bring back DeMelo... He's the perfect partner for Morrissey. JMo can get back to playing his game, and not having to be the stay-at-home guy he had to be last season.

4) Play the kids. Heinola and Samberg. You're not going to find more cost effective D on the market... Pair them with solid, veteran, RD partners to ease the transition... but don't waste the ELC's of these kids.

5) Matt Dumba. He's a nice combination of Trouba and Buff, and he's the big shot their PP desperately needs. He would pair well with Heinola.

6) The Hermantown bottom pair. Samberg and Pionk are compatible, just use them.

This shouldn't be super unrealistic. A team with decent cap space, in a flat cap year... These moves shouldn't be a stretch.

I like it. The Wild most likely ask for more but there is no way I am giving up 10 OA or Ehlers for him

That is not enough value coming back to the Wild.

a) CowSaysMoo is a top 10 UN on this site... so, congrats.

b) Without naming Ehlers or 10 OA, what would you think moves the needle?

You're missing a Wheeler trade, that's what the Jets really should be doing.

Unfortunately, I don’t see the Wild and Jets being good trading partners. The Wild need a top-6 C when the Jets themselves need a 2C. And there is no way they are moving Scheifele. While I think Roslovic is a good player, he is not a sure fire center. The Wild need to hit with this trade and get exactly what they want. Even if that means adding on top of Dumba to get it. He is the only piece left on the roster that is moveable and can get the Wild what they need without blowing a hole.

Thanks for the name compliment. It was my old gamertag on Xbox360. Had to keep the legacy going.

Stop... Blake Wheeler on the 2nd line is fine. His contract isn't moveable... He's still a fine player, if he gets less ice time and better 5v5 matchups.

You're probably right... but I don't see many teams offering up a top 6 C for Dumba alone... those Centers aren't that easy to come by.

I would be happy to see the Jets keep Roslovic, and sign Hamonic too.

He's the problem in the room.

There aren’t many guarantees in life other than death and taxes, but I can almost guarantee Hamonic lands in WPG.
