Leafs 2020

Created by: Killa93
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2020
Published: Sep. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I put a 2nd round pick in the Marner trade to offset the cap going back, and bc I’m a leaf fan and everyone will just tell me to ‘give my head a shake’ if I didn’t...

Kerfoot is going to Detroit with no cap coming back because they have the room

Anderson for fleury was straight up because we are taking in cap, Fleury being the better goalie may need a prospect or pick coming back.

Having DeMelo on the third line pairing gives each duo a gritty dman.

Welp! I know none of this will happen, just having fun so tell me what you guys think.

Flames easily decline tkachuk is better than marner and tkachuk isn’t overpaid. Marners contract is a big turn off for the flames

On what planet is a 36 year old (by the time next season starts) MA Fleury better than Andersen?

Why on earth are you trading Dermott for a fourth or kerfoot for a third? They're both more valuable to the team than that

Yea, Tkachuk would only be traded for Matthews. And Matthews is better so that would never happen. End of discussion

Just. Because Wings have cap room they are not going to give it away. That is not how it works. Wings and Flames are not your cap dumping grounds. Flames have cap issues and need to rebuild their defense, so how can they take on more cap?

Wings pass, you don't get 3rd round picks for bottom 6 forwards who scored under 30 points a year. Wings counter with svechnikov for your first, pretty similar

Marner is a better player than Tkachuk... Tkachuk plays with more grit and is harder to come across. So that’s why I put the 2nd. Plus the Flames aren’t paying Marner his full contract because it was front loaded by the leafs.

Fleury holds more value on the market than Anderson. Plus, Dermot is a left offensive defensmen that has not proven himself yet. He doesn’t even put up enough points plus he is not so great in his own zone.

Kerfoot has potential to be better then he’s played last year. You won’t get a 2nd for potential. I think it’s a 3rd.

Detroit is going to do exactly that... buy their team. They barely have a roster, what do you expect them to do? Trade the 15 players they have left?

It’s not like the flames are only going to do this one trade if they were (which they won’t bc this is pure fantasy)

Tkachuk is due for a payday in a few years. Plus they will be paying Marner almost similar money due to his front loaded contract.

Detroit has no other option other than signing UFA’s or buying players. They won’t be giving up young talent in trades or trading away whatever is left of their roster.

Yzerman has been very clear he’s building a team through the draft, not buying players via trade or free agency. There’s no shortage of teams looking to dump players to free up some cap space, so we’ll be in a prime spot to add players without giving up picks (including the 63rd pick), and more likely to get a discount for taking cap or being compensated for taking players.

We have lots of kids looking for a shot at playing, I’d rather be a bottom team again, secure a top 5 pick, and let the kids play rather than give up picks for players that don’t help the rebuild.

Again why on earth does a 35 year old Fleury have more value than Andersen? I don't buy it for a second.

And since when is Dermott an offensive defenseman? Because he doesn't hit a lot? The best defensive defenseman or the last 30 years didn't hit much either (Lidstrom). He too was a two way defenseman.

Dermott is that
