Chevy leaves the cabin and does something AP

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 18, 2020
Published: Sep. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Yes Winnipeg is not an attraction. Trust me I live here. However it’s hard for me not to hold on to at least a sleeping sliver of hope. Since he is going to the market, the jets need to be all in. The main suitors that have been noted have Cap problems. The Leafs, Knights, and Panthers all cap problems. So unless they make crazy moves in less then a months time, I don’t reasonably see how they could afford him. As I stated, Winnipeg is not going to be on the top of his list of teams he want to go to based on the city. However, if he really cares about playing in a passionate market for example, he will love it here. If he wants to make a lot of money, we can give that to him. If he wants term, we can give it to him as well. If he wants to be averaging 25-30 mins a night (which all players do lol) then he will get it here.

I think it’s imperative that the Jets put out there best effort on this. It’s time to start taking action instead of repeatedly saying things like “that’s the way it goes” or “there is nothing we could’ve done” it will show a fan base that is growing impatient that the team actually cares and isn’t striving for a decade of mediocrity. We deserve something after the horrible past year and half for the team. Letting good players leave for no reasoning, getting rid of good players in cap dumps, losing on players we should’ve traded for (MARK STONE) it’s time that ownership and the management step up and do their jobs.

So while it might not be likely, I would obviously love to see it happen.

Honestly not really, you have to pay to get, he hasn’t shown any signs of regression recently (if anything he has gotten better) and he legit played over that value this season. If we have to overpay to finally start a change, then I’ll do it. This is unlikely because it’s not Chevy’s style

That’s one of the best written posts I’ve read. And I think it’s bang on right from the title out.

Winnipeg fans deserve a winner.

If I had to choose to go see a game outside our T-Mobile Arena, in a city with knowledgeable, passionate, and non-pr*ck fans...I’m going to Bell MTS.

Heard that Pietrangelo wants a front loaded contract, not sure the Jets ownership would be willing to cut a cheque like that.

Playoffs here are some of the craziest things in sports, I truly believe that. On game days everyone just stops what there doing and starts getting hyped for the game that night. It’s one of my goals to catch a Knights game at T-Mobile and maybe even catch my old neighbour Cody Glass out there smile

They should be interested for sure if that’s the case then, hey have one of the richest people in the world in ownership/management. There really isn’t an excuse to not at least try unless Chevy is even dumber then I thought.

Would of thought Chevy was a Lake of the Woods guy which would make sense cause there's definitely not much cell service which is the perfect excuse for him doing nothing!

Not sure how involved Thomson really is though.

Yeah but still if Little is done (which I say is like 90% likely) they have a stupid amount of space. Solving 1RHD would be a wise way to start spending that money

No doubt, I just don't know how realistic it is, fun to dream though I know.. Lol

Bet they sign Hamonic, Beaulieu and that's the extent of their overhaul on defense, I think Samberg was promised a spot so he'll be on the team unless he has a disastrous camp/preseason, maybe Heinola goes to the Moose but considering how messed up everything is and that Niku has a kid in Winnipeg maybe they leave Heinola in Finland for the year and give Niku a final chance to sink or swim.

I’ve seen some film and Heinola looks REALLY good in his first 4-5 games of the preseason in the Liiga, he dominated the game in many areas, I think he could also make the team.

Oh I'm sure he could, just thinking it could be a possibility they decide to keep him in Finland and give some other guys a look.

Yeah for sure, one thing I will say about Chevy is he is good at not rushing development when he doesn’t have to. I’m sure he will make the right call in that aspect

Did you hear Chevy's final interview of the year after they got knocked out by Calgary? He actually mentioned Niku, maybe they haven't given up on him yet and if they left Heinola in Finland to put on some weight they could give Niku a fair shot at least, could end up being good asset management in the long run as well.

His style of play is very sustainable. Maybe not as much as Chara (who was still a number one at 38-39) but still. I could honestly see him still being a top 10-15 d-man in the league at like 36 years old. Dude's a beast, IMO he's in the Hedman territory.

Playoffs have a way of turning rational responsible adults into fumbling bumbling fools. I can't even remember most of the spring of 2018 LOL. And the party really never ended it just rolled in to the next day.

Definitely come down here when the world stops burning....T-Mobile is really a great experience, even a Tuesday against Florida! I have chatted with many visitor fans in the arena and most respond the same way...."I've never seen anything like this!" Oh, and when the Jets come to town there's an amazing Tragically Hip cover band (oddly, originally from Buffalo I think?) that performs outside in the Nine Fine Irishmen bar at NYNY....you gotta hear them.

BTW, Cody should be centering Stony and Patch next year...hopefully fans (including you) can watch that trio live soon.
