Holland Gets Busy

Created by: Eclipze
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 18, 2020
Published: Sep. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just send it Holland. Make McDavid and Draisaitl happy.

Winnipeg
Picks dont really matter in this deal. The 4th is either conditional or he agrees to an extension prior to trade.

Montreal
Couldnt get the french superstar at #1 so go for the guy you wanted last year. Montreal was rumored to be looking at trading down for Lavoie with Carolina (picks 28 and 36) but decided they couldnt pass on Caufield at 15. The 3rd would be conditional based on Chiassons performance.

New Jersey
Simple move up 4 picks and get Samorukov but you have to take Neal. Edmonton could add a 3rd in either 2020 or 2021 depending if they defer the pick from the Lucic/Neal trade.

Carolina
Carolina dumps 8M in cap so they can sign Markstrom or Lehner (If neither of them resign first) or go for Andersen like all the rumors are saying. Also gives space for next off season when they have to resign Svechnikov and Hamilton. I basically see it as Toronto sent them that pick to take Marleaus contract so it makes sense for it to be used the same way maybe? and JP and co for for Fleury and Bokk. Please when you roast me in the comments for this deal go easy on me 😂.

Ottawa
Again simple move up in the draft and Edmonton gets Brown for Russell. Ottawa saves money since Melnyk is cheap and there is now 0 question Ottawa has the best prospect pool in the NHL.

Detroit
Would be ok with moving the 3rd and 4th pick each down a round.

Boston
Same old Debrusk to Edmonton for a 1st in 2021 nothing new here.

Arizona
Saw this trade a few times AA for Kuemper 1 for 1. Guarantee they get a better offer atleast offering a 2nd round pick so i figured why not add the 2 2nds. Might be desperate after losing more picks and trading the 18th pick for Hall just to leave.

Well what’s more important a pick that could be a main piece in 3-5 years right when Ottawa would be realistically a competitive team and brown will be 29 years old or keeping Connor Brown? For Edmonton it’s simple he helps us win now with McDavid and Draisaitl in their prime still under contract for the next 5 years.

Kinda ironic you call JP a 1st round bust when Fleury was drafted at 7 in 2014 and is only just starting to look like a 2nd pairing potential dman and Bokk isn’t even able to make the top 6 in the DEL.

I’d accept that if I’m Edmonton.

Fleury is still here and playing. Canes supreme defensive depth has slowed his progression. JP doesn’t have any excuse and is in Europe because Edmonton was strong enough to tell him he had to earn his ice time. Not the same comparison. Either way, Canes pass. We don’t need to or want to dump Mrazek or Nino. If a deal made to move either, sure. Paying to move them isn’t it. Especially not at that price.

This deal makes Carolina worse in the short term and long term. 3 NHL roster players + a prospect who is relatively close + 13OA for two minor prospects and a guy who couldn’t cut it in the NHL so he ran back to Finland

JP went to Finland cause he didn’t want to play in Edmonton cause he didn’t like how McLellan treated him and Holland refused to trade him. If he was a UFA and not and RFA he would be in NA right now.

I don't get that Carolina trade at all, no way the Canes do that.

id rather keep the 26 year old second line winger. We still need guys who have experience in the league to play on the team now but also in 3-4 years. Unless a significant name falls to pick 14 i can't see this happening.

Quinn, Askarov or Mercer would be available around 14.

As a Habs fan, I wouldn't touch Lavoie, at all. Not even on waivers. He has a strange and weird vibe everywhere he goes (read the news on him over the past 24 hours...). Klefborn, what? Another LD? lol. No chance. And no need for Chiasson (every single Oilers fan on here want to dump this guy on the Habs).

So all 3 players are not at all what Montreal is looking for. And paying that much? Not. A. Chance.

    Hard no from Montreal.

    Cheers my friend smile
