I don't think that's necessarily a bad move for a contending team, but your defense is basically about to die of old age alone - I wouldn't bank on competing and letting go of that 1st rounder.

I definitely think Nylander is worth more than that, Toronto would be looking for a top 4 right shot D IF they traded him. Even if they were planning on signing Petro I think they would get more back for Nylander.

Murphy is literally a top 4 RHD, this is honestly too good of a deal for them.

Boqvist, Mitchell, dermott, carlson, krys, kalynuk regula, vlasic, beaudan would all be 23 or younger. Hawks would have plenty of young defenceman. Nowhere near "dying of old age"

Murphy is a top 4 right shot. He can play your #1 PK and he's on a great contract. This is a good deal for both sides IMO.

Well I don't think this is a bad offer at all but if were trading Nylander we better get a really good RH defenseman that is worth it. Murphy is good but not that

Sorry I'm not too familiar with him. Wouldn't the Hawks want to keep him then? The Hawks don't have great D

Doubt would get both those picks and retained money that just seems too much.

I just can’t wrap my head around it. Nylander is the only piece that’s really worth looking at considering the pieces Chicago is giving up. If I was a Chicago fan I’d be quickly saying no can do far better with that collection of assets.

Seabrook's anchor of a contract isn't going anywhere any time soon so thats 1 of our 3 RHD spots. Boqvist played top pair with Kieth last year and looks like he's going to be pretty good. Also was a top 10 pick. Thats the 2nd RH spot. Then Ian Mitchell is the last RD spot. 2nd round pick from 2016. Just signed his ELC after he was the Captain at U of Denver. Looks like he's going to be quite good. Hawks would love to keep Murphy but realistically we need to clear the ice time to develop the kids. We also have Regula who is over a ppg at a defenceman in london in the OHL. Looks to be a 3rd pair/possibly 2nd pair guy of the future as well.

Murphy is really good. Non hawks fans don't see it because they don't watch him enough and just see the stats that he doesn't put up offensive numbers. Murphy makes up for lack of offence with great defence, and TOR wouldn't really need the offence from him anyways, thats what Rielly, Petro, and Muzzin will do.

Yes, and none of those guys are leading the charge. Boqvist is interesting, but it's not some huge young infuse of talent

Ehh I argue with them non stop about johnsson kerfoot and Andersen to oilers thoughts. Seem to think their depth pieces are worth comparable to top 6 forwards or top 4 defenders. It’s a fantasy world that’s going to come crashing down eventually

Dermott is 23 with the potential to be a top 4 Dman, and his defense first playstyle would be great alongside either of boqvist or mitchell in the future

Boqvist and Mitchell will get more and more minutes as they develop. The only thing missing from the hawks defensive prospect pool is a #1 LD, and trading or keeping Murphy doesn't change that

I argued them on them over valuing kapanen, then PIT way overpayed. Currently argue them on Johnson not being good all the time so i'm waitng for some GM to pay a 2nd for him just to make me look bad lol

looking at his stats now they are actually pretty good. Besides special teams he is actually decent. This wouldn't actually be a horrible return for Nylander.
