doesn't make sense for Petro to sign a 5-year deal... this is likely the last big contract he will sign and he will want the extra 2 years of big $$$

Makes sense from a player perspective. Not ideal at all from a team perspective.

Deal doesn’t make sense for Van. Don’t have cap space and center isn’t the need

Exactly but the player has the leverage in the UFA market. $40m total contract won't get it done IMO. Blues probably offered (an embarrassingly low) 8y x 7.7 for about 62m. Hes not gonna bank on getting over 7x3 at age 36 to make up for it. He should be able to leverage 7 yrs even in the bad financial times.

I like the moves for D but the forward moves are an issue. Add Holl to the flames. He would be a great fit there. But they probably won’t move Bennet. I would target their first. Use that to acquire Demko.

I would look at peace and geekie in the nylander trade.

Keep engvall and kerfoot.

I think it’s worse. I think they were trying to get him in a mid term deal.

If their best offer is lower total money than Faulk I will throw up.

No doubt!

Although I don’t see petro as a fit in Toronto (too much of a roster overhaul) if his issue is structure Toronto can certainly accommodate that.

Still believe this is negotiation by media though.

Drop the 2nd and Carolina might consider, but Pesce for Nylander is roughly there 1 for 1

why would he turn down 7 x 9 = 63M for 5 x 8 = 40M ?? he certainly won't get that extra 23M back when he is 36

I'm not wrong though. Nylander and Pesce have an equal on ice impact, hence their value is fair. If you want to get technical, Pesce's on a better deal and would be filling a dire need so theoretically, Toronto would need to add so stop being wrong

Nylander is undisputedly the better player and is much more impactful on the ice so I don't know what you're on about with them being equal.

Nope. Their DxG+/- is actually very similar. Meaning their on ice impact is equal AND it actually favours Pesce. So if you don't want to cough up Nylander for him, fine, But Carolina will not trade him for anything less

that's really cool some random ass stat that no one has ever heard of says their similar. most other models that don't devolve the game down into a single number clearly show that nylander is more impactful.

xG is widely accepted as the most reliable stat for a players defensive capability and offensive capabilities combined. So your ignorance doesn't discount it!. All analytics favor Pesce to Nylander, don't think Carolina don't know that, and it's why Nylander will be the asking price

you didn't say xg, you said dxg+/-.

moneypuck has nylanders xg like fivehold higher than pesces xg.

oh, and here's a bunch of analytics as percentiles from skatr:

nylanderskatr.pngpesceskatr.png

that dark red bar for expected goals against is uh... not great, considering that's what toronto will be looking to address.

Usinh plateau? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Try natural stat trick, EH or even Corsica, which all favour Pesce. Also, try using a larger sample size because we all know what 1 year analytics are like

the model i posted derives its stats from nts and corsica.

I'm starting to think you actually don't understand analytics and are just stalling. normally one would post their own research for a rebuttal instead of trying to disgard what I posted.

unless you return with a substantial argument that pesce is worth nylander i think we're done here.

No, you posted the modle from plateau, which is derrived from a combination of xGAR and xWAR for it's QoT and QoC factors, which is a joke. You clearly do not understand what you're posting, and that's quite comical. You're proclaiming "nts and corsica" yet, it's powered by CH 😂😂 that's actually funny. So unless you can return with a reliable source to disprove my statement, we're done 🤣🤣

So you don't have an rebuttal.

I'll make my post from yesterday a little more obvious since apparently Sherman knocked the brains out the south as well: actually post the analytics that show Pesce is worth Nylander. I'm not doing it for you.
