Linemates based on analytics

Created by: mhockey91
Team: 2015-16 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 8, 2015
Published: Jul. 8, 2015
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Based on NHL.com article, kessel and Malkin would thrive together. Either plotnikov, dupuis, kunitz, or even Bennett can ride LW on that line but I'll give plots the benefit of the doubt. From what I've read he's a gritty Russian winger and that line will for sure need a guy who can play in the corners. Will be pretty much impossible to trade scuderi.

I don't really see how this is based on "analytics." I assume you're referring to the Dan Rosen article on NHL.com but that wasn't really based on "analytics" so much as it was based on shot totals for Malkin and Neal from like 2 years ago. It was a kind of odd, very flawed article really

especially when analytics show Hornqvist played better with Malkin than Sid and Bennett's analytics show he should be dumped in the garbage along with Sutter

It's not necessarily based on "analytics" but Mike Colligan at the Hockey Writers wrote the best argument I've seen for why Kessel fits better with Malkin...

what analytics show beau is garbage? he was great per60s, pretty good WOWYs, and had a 53% 5v5 cf w/ the 2nd hardest ZS% on the team last season.
