Sanheim for Nylander? I've heard the reports but not a big fan of that

Yup. I think it’s a good fit if Rielly is comfortable at RD. Flyers may not agree to it since they’ve already got Voracek/Konecny in top 6, but possible they move Voracek down. There’s a hole at that 3rd line RW

I don't think either team would take that trade.

Both teams have/had interest in those players. Leafs would probably prefer a RHD but I don’t think they’ll get one. Flyers need offense badly after their top 6 underwhelmed

I think they’ll move one of Patrick/Frost to dump JVR which clears up a roster spot

There's no way they'll trade either of Patrick or Frost... they're highly valued in Philly. I think the problem is that Philly probably thinks highly of Sanheim while the Leafs think highly of Nylander. It'll depend on the other GM's perception of each other's player. I think they're both better off where they are.

Sanheim is comfortable playing on the right as he did with Provorov in the 18-19 season after Hak was fired so you wouldn't need to worry about Rielly playing the right. As you said I'm not sure how I feel about the trade even though I think the Flyers win the trade losing the guy who was basically the #2 dman on the team this year isn't ideal but I'm not entirely opposed.

I like the montour trade. Low/medium risk and high reward. I would rather trade holl for cap reasons and get back a 3rd/2nd or something similar to that. for only 1.75 m extra and a sure fire bottom pairing dman you could get someone who slides in the top 4. It’s a risk tho cuz he could play like **** still but I think the pick would help mitigate some risk.

Their center depth will be Couturier, Hayes, Frost, Patrick. One of them is the odd man out even if/when JVR is moved, they simply don’t have the spots for all of them.

The only way both stay is if Patrick plays RW but do they really want that many young players in the lineup at one time (Lindblom, Farabee, Frost, Patrick, and even to an extent Konecny)? That’s not to mention their very young d-corp and young goaltender in Hart.

They can move either Frost or Hayes to the wing... trading them (especially just as a cap dump sweetner) is a bad idea for Philly. If they trade them, it'll be for an upgrade.

You try moving JVRs contract without adding a significant piece.. it’s not happening. They have to do it at this point or they’ll be in cap hell and be forced to sell off assets for nothing

I’d move JVR + Patrick for picks and prospects while he still has value. I feel terrible for Nolan but as someone who suffers from migraines and has had numerous concussions, it’s very unpredictable. Up in the air if he’s going to come back and play up to his potential. He wasn’t exactly lights out when he was healthy so he needs to get better than before to have the value that Flyers fans hold him at.

They have all their pieces locked up at least beyond this year. JVR isn't in cap dump territory yet and even then he still has positive trade value.

This simply isn’t true.. he’s extremely overpaid and was a healthy scratch many times in the playoffs

He has negative trade value.
