Coyotes can't really trade Dvorak. Their centre ice position is so weak and Dvorak is kinda the best of the bunch.

Doesn’t the Dvorak move push Cozens out? It’s a great idea to pull him from the Coyotes, but wouldn’t it make more sense to get a winger or puck mover in the back instead?

I the the OP has the same idea I do. The coyotes have 2 solid center prospects and they are currently cash strapped. This would cost them a long term C but it helps with their immediate cash situation. I agree Dvorak is the best they got but I wonder how much cash matters for them.

Cozens on the wing isn't a bad idea for his rookie season. I'm not sure we will resign Staal after his contract expires at the end of the year and then Cozens can slide into the middle after a year of learning at the NHL level. Cozens has the size, speed and isn't afraid to go to the dirty areas so he could be an excellent winger at the NHL level and I think because he's a right hand shot if we draft a centre at 8th overall (Rossi/Lundell/Perfetti) he might end up on RW permanently down the line anyways.

Schmaltz is still decent and Stepan can fill a role if nothing else. Hayton and Steenbergen are studs! So if they run Schmaltz, Hayton and Stepan this year with a 4th liner FA (ie; Nate Thompson), they would be "okay" in the middle but definitely not great. I wonder if an OEL for Monahan trade could get them someone to play with Hall.

Good info. There’s no question Cozens is gonna be good, guess we’ll see what the staff thinks. I could see him transitioning to the 2C role there by the end of the year if things go well and I would assume that would e the plan given how hard centers are to find.

On value alone, this is a win for Arizona. But they can't trade Dvorak.

But the answer cant be to trade a 24 year old (a good 2 way C) who has been one of their best roster players for the past 2+ seasons.

I’m in your boat too. I am interested to see how it plays out. I think Schmaltz is more likely given his contract if something like this does happen. The coyotes aren’t setting themselves up to play next year, just survive.

I wouldn’t want any part of Kessel for this team. Phil’s a great player, but his personality would be a terrible one to bring into the locker room, especially if the team starts losing again.

Add Mittelstadt instead of Pilut

I'd honestly rather do that as Buffalo but I'm sick of reading people trashing on him so I just avoid trading him now. I think Pilut should be on a pair with Risto next season no questions asked.

You would think that needing a LD they would give him a one way contract...at least they know what they have in him and he's cheap. He should have been here last year.

Calling Hayton and Steenbwrgen studs is a bit of a stretch. Hayton may still develop into a good nhl center but he really did not produce in his first look at that level. Steenburgen will be 23 in January and hasn't played an nhl game yet. On top of that he only has 48 pts in 120 career ahl games. Not exactly lighting things up
