Probably rather keep Ryan than take on a cap dump in Hornqvist

I would not describe Hornqvist as a “cap dump”

That’s a legit player on a meh contract. Not some scrub on a **** one

The cap might not go up for 5 years.

5.35 for a 33 year old power forward is a cap dump. Call it what it is

He’s still worth his deal, that’s the amount he would get in free agency

A player being older and having a higher cap number doesn’t automatically make them a cap dump

He’s signed for three more seasons, not until he’s 40

He might not be great the last year but he would produce as a #2RW on Calgary for at least two seasons

Taking on a Hornqvist will significantly hamper the Flames chances to keep Gaudreau and to extend Tkachuk. You have to remember that they already have 5.2 mill wasted on Lucic and another 3 in buyouts. They aren’t in any position to take on players that aren’t playing to their contracts. Mangiapane can put up the same numbers or better for far cheaper than Hornqvist

Not sure on that value, but I can tell you VGK will be the last team to take that cap dump lol

Horny is no cap dump. He is probably the best in the business at what he does. Discussed this option on HFBoards and it was pretty well accepted. He just does not mesh well with Sid or Geno but would for sure be top six with other centres and is a nightmare for goalies...

Come on man, help a guy out!
Who would take him for picks? And what picks would need to be sacrificed (be realistic please).

Was not arguing that Calgary should take him, I understand the perspective that he doesn't make sense for their roster as is

Just making the point that he's not a true cap dump, which you explicitly said:
"5.35 for a 33 year old power forward is a cap dump. Call it what it is"
