How do you expect Toronto to take $7M without taking anything back

If the Leafs had 7M to spend they'd spend it on Pietrangelo

Why would the Avs do that trade at all?

If they could get a good goalie to replace Grubauer I'd make this deal

Agreed. Only chews up an extra 1.6m in cap and still leaves the Avs plenty of room to add a goaltender.

Avs aren’t helping VGK in any trade. They are 2 very unlikely trade partners as arguably the top 2 teams in the west. Imo that is.

My personal list would be Lehner, Markstrom, or Andersen, thats it. If COL were to consider this move they would need to have another deal in place for one of those guys before moving Grubauer.

I don't think it's that far fetched to say the Avs have a chance land one of those guys

Lehner yes, Markstrom probably, no thanks to Andersson. But you’d have to think Sakic isn’t trading Grubauer with out having his replacement in the fold. It’s interesting that Lehner denied there was an agreement in place.

valid point, but I suppose that would depend on if the Avs think they are helping Vegas more than themselves.

In this situation we trade you our starting goalie to help clear space so you can sign Pietrangelo for a guy that plays on the 2nd line. Yeah that’s not happening. P
