I sure hope the Caps hold onto Eller, but if it's a move they decide they have to make for cap space, a 2nd is probably what they can get this summer, and I think that's a pretty solid center rotation you got, there.

That would be the hopeful gameplan. I think adding Eller and another winger would be enough to get the Sabres back into the playoffs.

If you want to help Washington with their cap, Kempny, Panik, and Hagelin would all be on the block before Eller. Despite what some Caps fans think about a 19 year old Connor McMichael, there's no one in the system who can step into his role, so dumping him means going out and finding someone new via trade or free agency and chances are they'll cost about as much if not more than Eller. Basically, he's not gonna be a cap dump.
